Purpose of Role: The Compliance Manager (CM) will develop the BNA Quality and Food Safety policies in collaboration with the BNA corporate team & hired consultants ensuring BNA system requirements meet the expectations of the customer and industry. Once policies have been developed the CM will train the site Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) to standard and assist the QAM in reconciling the site program to the BNA Policy, identifying any gaps, tracking, and addressing each gap to assure compliance.
In addition, the CM will assure corporate responsibility identified and outline in each policy is fully defined assigned in guidance document and assigned to BNA member.
The CM will conduct BNA QMS Corporate audits of each site, identify gaps, assure each gap is addressed, record all actions and track to completion. The CM will also support each site throughout the years as needed, including onsite visits, therefore the CM is required to travel to each site at an approximate quarter schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Develop BNA Quality and Food Safety policies that ensure required industry standards such as GFIS and customer expectations are met, and continuous improvement is achieved.
- Work hand in hand with Technical Regulatory compliance function to support overall quality and food safety compliance.
- Network within BNA/BFG and in industry for quality and food safety best practices identification and support implementation at BNA.
- Partner with BNA cross functional personnel to drive quality and food safety improvement initiatives.
- Incorporate customer and GFSI expectations into BNA policies to ensure BNA operates to industry leading standards.
- Maintaining BNA policies to ensure proper control, as well as ensuring facilities have access to policies and are trained on revisions.
- Conduct BNA facility audits to BNA expectations, confirm closures to non-compliance.
- Trends Sites Internal Audit gaps, identifies trends and facilitates actions to minimize recurrence.
- Creates the basis of monthly refresher training, provided to the sites for customization, and works with the site’s Training Coordinator or the BNA EHS Manager for Execution
- Develops higher level required training competencies for all team members with the organization top-down as it related to Food Safety and Quality
- Develop and execute scenario tests of each facility in areas of Crisis Management, Recall, and Food Defense, this may be conducted in collaboration with Regulatory BNA department.
- Assist in GFSI audits of each facility as needed, in preparation of or as support.
- Performs Corporate responsibility as defined in the BNA Policy. It is important to understand these requirements are being developed and thus not defined at this time. Examples:
- Trending Cross Site IA gaps, identify trends, establish, and track preventative actions to trends.
- Publish Quality bulletins.
- Identify opportunities of Food Safety Culture enhancement at each BNA site, work with site QAMs to further develop and measure the level of food safety culture.
- Evaluate, select, and harmonize sites to one GFSI standard.
- Provides Site and Senior Leadership Team with updates, including periodic presentations.
- Assists in tracking, trending, and reacting to Performance Indicators and the site and corporate level.
- Assists in trending Site Customer Complaints and facilitating actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Assumes responsibilities of the BNA Director and BNA QAM in urgently needed situations such as absences.

Key Experiences
- Microsoft Office program (2-4 years)
- Quality Assurance experience (2-4 years)
- External audit experience with various customers and regulatory agencies
- Regulatory (FDA and USDA) Experience with demonstrated knowledge of current interpretations of quality management system requirements and current industry best practices.
- Prior experience in food processing within a manufacturing environment under HACCP, SQF or BRC requirements
- Demonstrated leadership in the areas of food safety and ability to work effectively with cross functional departments within the organization at all levels and manage through influence.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills; ability to analyze processes for biological, chemical, and physical hazards with a thorough understanding of the science and support behind each type of hazard and each step of a production process.
- Strong problem solving, verbal and communication skills with excellent analytical and decision-making abilities, (preferably through CAPA)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at once with limited direct supervision, demonstrating a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Ability to integrate information from multiple sources.
- Ability to read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence.
Desired Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Food Technology or a related discipline, with at least 2 years related experience in Quality Management.
