Job Purpose

The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for conducting quality internal audits, quality monitoring of products, developing and implementing improved policies and procedures ensuring quality control measures are adhered to.

The Irish sites of Ribworld, Callan Bacon, Carroll Cuisine and Magee’s site are an integral part of making Sofina Foods inc. a leading producer of both fresh and cooked pork products with approximately 13,500 employees across Canada and Europe.
The business supplies to retail, foodservice and manufacturing customers in Ireland and Europe, as well as export customers globally. We have full production chain visibility, and our pork is eaten by millions of consumers every year.
This role will be based in one of the Irish sites, Ribworld, Fethard, Co Tipperary

Key Accountabilities

Implementing and managing the HACCP system on the floor.
Traceability and quality systems on the factory floor.
Daily Traceability checks in relation to all procedures.
Introduction of new products and customers to the factory.
Ensuring production and staff areas are maintained to required hygiene standards.
Encouraging all staff members to recognise the importance of good hygiene practices.
Gathering, checking and filing the daily record sheets.
Carrying out internal audits.
New staff induction.
Swab testing.
Writing SOP’s where required
Daily Factory and product temperature checks.
Metal detector checks (daily checks, calibrations, troubleshooting etc)
Weekly Scales & temperature probe check.
Carrying out product testing to defined schedules.

Providing regular quality improvement information and performance reports to the management to identify quality problems and non- conformances

Skills and Experience Required

Previous experience in a similar role
A degree in Food Science and Technology or related discipline is essential.
Good knowledge of Microsoft word, excel etc.
Motivated self-starter
Good written and communicative English
Be a team player and work well with people
