The Engine Supplier Quality Leader will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, be involved in long-term planning, contribute to the overall strategy, and manage complex issues within functional areas area of expertise, which includes; Engineering, Services, Supply Chain, Sourcing and Fulfillment. This person will be part of the Reliability Center of Excellent and Global Supply Chain leadership teams and must have the ability to influence leaders across all functions. This leader needs to be able to motivate and lead a cross functional team located around the globe.
Essential Responsibilities
In addition you will:
- Establish a structured approach to improve supplier quality assurance and drive consistency and adherence to quality procedures
- Set team objectives and goals that are aligned with those of the business
- Develop and execute on short and long-term supplier strategy
- Lead and direct Global Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) activities focusing on supplier qualification, non-conformance management, supplier surveillance, and quality initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement of suppliers' quality, cost, cycle, and delivery performance
- Manage resources to provide technical guidance to a global supplier base to assure product and process compliance with engineering drawings and specifications
- Work effectively with Commercial, Engineering, Sourcing and Manufacturing teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of sourced components
- Manage and execute the supplier qualification process and supplier surveillance process
- Monitor supplier non-conformance performance and drive root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and process improvements to reduce the Number of Defects and Cost of Quality
- Lead and manage supplier escapes that effect the Wabtec Manufacturing locations or escapes to our customers until resolution is achieved
- Support the Reliability Team for assistance needed with customer reliability issues driven by supplier quality issues
- Drive consistency and adherence to Global Sourcing procedures and requirements
- Support sourcing initiatives and metrics including deflation, dual source, localization, quality, etc
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (OR High School Diploma / GED) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of business experience
- Previous experience leading global teams of exempt employees
- Willingness and ability to travel to required customer, supplier, and company sites
