SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

To assist in all Quality operations. To assist every department in meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

This includes the responsibilities and duties of the job and should cover all performance areas.

Guidelines:

Understanding of bottle quality requirements and documentation of those requirements.

Audit all production lines for all applicable Quality checks

Place suspect product on hold and audit suspect product using AQL inspections as required. Gauging of parts using both handheld and automatic measurement equipment. Quality test equipment includes but is not limited to the following: Calipers, height gauges, automatic non-contact dimensional measurement equipment, wall thickness equipment, force gauges, optical comparator.

Set up and adjusting the in-line vision inspection system.

Challenging the vision system, leak detector and metal detector verify correct operation.

Performing First Article Inspection (FAI) for all tool changes and Factory Work Order (FWO) changes.

Assisting with qualifications for new tools or when there is a change to tool, machine, material of change to other parts of the process that may affect part quality.

Printing Labels and Discreet Pick Lists (BOM) for all new FWO changes.

Must be able to enter and retrieve data from our data collection software.

Training operators on the correct method to perform the in-process checks, both visual ang gauging.

Training operators on the correct method of documenting process checks, machine issues, and shift output on the proper forms.

Responsible for communicating any issues that affect quality, safety, or production to the Shift Supervisor and Quality Manager.

Making sure there is a good pass-down of pertinent information to the on-coming Quality Inspector.

Understand the packing configurations according to BOM requirements.

Must follow and enforce Silgan Safety, Quality, and GMP policies.

Member of the HACCP team upon request.

AUTHORITY LEVEL (if applicable): NA

EDUCATION:

Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

· Good personal safety, attendance, and job performance record.

· Manufacturing and/or mechanical background.

· Previous experience with calipers, height gauges, functional gauges, and other test equipment.

· Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

· Can read part drawing or blueprints.

Preferred: Plastic Industry knowledge

SKILLS:

Required:

· Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence team members to work safely.

· Demonstrated willingness to work well with others within a team environment.

· Demonstrated ability to communicate and train effectively.

· Standing, walking, and lifting to thirty-five pounds.

· Willingness to work 12-hour shifts.

· Ability to work unhindered by physical restriction

Preferred: Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English
