Duties

The Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for executing the day-to-day processes and procedures for reconciliation-related operations, tracking, and controls of funds under the branch's control.

Brief Description of Major Duties:

  • Assists with training employees in closeout and reconciliation techniques, controls, and products.
  • Reconciles banking system data with the data maintained in the Courts' financial system(s) of record.
  • Reviews and tracks account transactions, ensuring that all activities posted to the Courts' accounts were authorized, appropriate, accurate, and timely.
  • Develops and maintains a reconciliation structure to provide control systems for transactions involving expenditures of funds from different fiscal years and sources.
  • Reviews and reconciles subsidiary accounts to provide accountability and control by sub-account and type of bank account or transaction.
  • Maintains files on matters pertaining to reconciliations and related financial activities
  • Implements operation methods to ensure compliance with the DC Courts' and federal policies, banking regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and accounting pronouncements.
  • Recommends technological advancement in banking products and court systems to maximize the efficiency of the branch.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers via written and oral communication.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications For Grade 7: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university; or a degree in a related field such as finance, business administration or public administration including 24 semester hours in accounting. Salary range: $53,105- $69,035

General knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures, and techniques. Ability to prepare financial statements and reports. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade 9: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university plus one (1) year of experience in financial and accounting activities including reconciliation, tracking and control of funds; or a degree in a related field such as finance, business administration or public administration including 24 semester hours in accounting plus one (1) year of experience in financial and accounting activities including reconciliation, tracking and control of funds. Salary range: $64,957- $84,441

Proficient knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures, and techniques. Ability to prepare financial statements and reports. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade 11: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university plus three (3) years of experience in financial and accounting activities including reconciliation, tracking and control of funds; or a degree in a related field such as finance, business administration or public administration including 24 semester hours in accounting plus three (3) years of experience in financial and accounting activities including reconciliation, tracking and control of funds. Salary range: $78,592- $102,166

Advanced knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures, and techniques. Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and reports. Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Employees can carry over no more than 240 hours of annual leave into the next leave year.

    Sick Leave is used for personal medical needs, care of a family member, or adoption related purposes. Full-time employees earn four(4)hours of sick leave biweekly. This leave can be accrued without limit.

    In addition to the federal health plans, the DC Courts offer employees supplemental vision and dental plans as well as a commuter transit benefit subsidy, for a maximum of $150 a month. There are 26 pay periods in the year.
