Recovery Coach
Community Bridges, Inc. CBI's recovery model embraces the full continuum of medical services, substance abuse and mental health treatments crisis and inpatient services, residential and outpatient services, support for women and children, homeless outreach, housing and shelter, community education, and extensive outreach efforts.
Job Summary
The Recovery Coach (RC) is an individual who has lived experience in recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders, with 1-2 years of professional experience in a substance use disorder setting providing peer support or navigation services. The RC provides experience, strength, and hope to individuals, their families, and natural supports presenting for care to minimize the emotional impact of treatment and increase the likelihood of recovery along with the likelihood of continued care once discharged. The RC also assists in the transition to the most appropriate level of care available in conjunction with the established treatment team, which includes ensuring coordination of care with all parties who are currently involved in the patient’s case and ensuring that family and other social supports identified in the patient’s treatment plan are involved in the discharge planning process.
Skills/Requirements:
- Highschool diploma or GED required. Associate Degree or higher preferred.
- Must have lived experience in recovery from mental health and/or substance use.
- 1-2 years of professional experience in a substance use disorder setting providing peer support or navigation services required.
- Valid identification required.
- Has a valid Peer Specialist Certification certificate in accordance with Washington D.C. Department of Behavioral Health Consumer and Family Affairs Department.
- Department of Behavioral Health Recovery Coach Training Certificate of Completion required.
