ABOUT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF NEW JERSEY (AACCNJ)

Founded in 2007, the AACCNJ is dedicated to economically empowering and sustaining New Jersey's Black and minority communities through capitalistic initiatives via strategic alliances with its members and other organizations and corporations.

ABOUT AACCNJ'S MOBILE ACADEMY

In 2022, the AACCNJ created the Mobile Academy to establish and maintain a level and equitable economic playing field throughout the state of New Jersey by augmenting and supplementing the training needs of New Jersey’s underserved workforce and business communities. Offered at churches, community centers, schools, parks, and other venues throughout New Jersey, and sometimes virtually, the Mobile Academy facilitates workshops, seminars, and panel discussions that enhance the competencies of New Jersey’s minority residents and minority-owned businesses while ultimately improving the economic competitiveness of the state. Through its work-readiness workshop series, the Mobile Academy offers courses on cover letters, résumés, LinkedIn optimization, interviewing, and basic workplace etiquette.

ABOUT THE FREE WORK-READINESS WORKSHOP

AACCNJ's President's Club member PSE&G is sponsoring a PAID On-the-Job Training Program for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technician trainees and weather technician trainees through the Clean Energy Jobs Program. AACCNJ's Mobile Academy seeks to introduce this economically impactful program to members of underrepresented communities who are interested in an entree into this burgeoning industry. The primary purpose of the Mobile Academy's FREE Work-readiness Workshop is to train and coach attendees on how to present a polished and professional appearance in person and on paper and social media to increase their success in getting accepted into the PSE&G-Sponsored PAID On-the-Job Training Program!

Participants who complete the Mobile Academy's FREE Work-readiness Workshop will receive a unique participation code they can include in their cover letters when applying for the PSE&G-Sponsored PAID On-the-Job Training Program to separate themselves from the rest of the pack! ABOUT THE PSE&G SPONSORED ON-THE-JOB TRAINING PROGRAM

• Receive paid, hands-on, and job-specific training with a dedicated mentor at an energy efficiency company
• Gain experience, do meaningful work, and build in-demand skills in New Jersey’s rapidly growing clean energy industry
• Get access to a multidisciplinary training curriculum that provides clean energy, technical, interpersonal, and life skills
• Prior experience in the clean energy industry is NOT required
• Valid driver's license and the ability to get to and from the warehouse are required
• Jobs and training are not with PSE&G; employer is a participating company that specializes in energy efficiency
• Training program lasts 16 weeks
• Starting salary is $22.50/hour for HVAC technician trainees
• Starting salary is $18.75/hour for weatherization technician trainees
• Job placement will be determined following successful completion of the four-month PSE&G-Sponsored On-the-Job Training Program

ABOUT THE CLEAN ENERGY JOBS PROGRAM

The Clean Energy Jobs Program, a collaboration between PSE&G, the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, AACCNJ, and local partner organizations, provides training and resources to prepare participants for careers in New Jersey’s fast-growing energy efficiency sector. PSE&G is the sponsor of the Clean Energy Jobs Program and its On-the-JobTraining Program. Training and career placement will only occur through the program’s partner suppliers—not with PSE&G.
