About the Team:

Our Supply Chain and Logistics team mission is to provide top notch service to our stores and purchasing teams- contributing to the goal to make Grocery Outlet the first choice for bargain minded customers while touching lives for the better. Our team oversees the successful movement of products from our vendors to our stores and is self-motivated, passionate, and dedicated.

About the Role:

The Manager, Logistics Operations focuses on store order fulfillment and last mile delivery operations for a regional cluster of stores in the Mid-Atlantic area. Obsessed with service, this individual will be a strong team player and even stronger coach to ensure our stores are serviced with effective service at an efficient cost. Team member safety is of high importance, as we aspire to build a best-in-class safety culture, resulting in industry leading OSHA metrics. Must be a strong communicator ensuring all levels of the team share the mission and vision, where everyone is aware of our how their contributions will help achieve daily/weekly productivity and expense targets. Employee engagement is a strong part of our operational culture and is expected to be maintained at a very high standard. Our sites are to be balanced in flow (inbound + outbound) to effectively use the facility throughput capacity, leveraging optimally required equipment and labor strategies across the operating clock. Ensuring strong lines of communication with our buyer/planning/inbound transportation teams upstream, this position will ensure visibility both physically and digitally of all inbound product flows into our supply chain. Where 3rd Party sites are involved, the Manager, Logistics Operations will build joint plans with site leadership to support the contractual objectives, while driving the favorable service level agreements on service, inventory management and cost. Responsible for overseeing last mile delivery execution ensuring loads are prepared and operationally executed as planned, proactively communicate any variations to plans, whenever they occur. Will have warehouse and last mile transportation operating expense budget accountability. Must have strong understanding of warehouse and transportation management systems, engineered labor standards, inventory control and experience with other core supply chain operations supporting systems/tools.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Safety of our workforce and resulting safety culture of the operation
  • Service to our stores; both order fulfillment and last mile delivery execution
  • Accountable for budget and performance against both operating expense and capital expense plans
  • People engagement; clear target setting, coaching, collecting feedback, talent management, celebrating achievements
  • Continuous Improvement; never satisfied with status quo, always curious/inspired to innovate, measure to keep score and move all aspects of the operations/processes forward

About the Pay:

  • Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalency of demonstrated years of progressive leadership experience
  • We are in the people business in logistics operations; must be strong people facilitator, leader, listener, coach, talent builder
  • We produce tons of data; must be comfortable rolling up the sleeves to extract, shape, and analyze data to measure our business and drive improvements, strengthen our processes and reinforce our focus on balancing safety, service and cost; must be obsessed with data accuracy and integrity as product/item master data is strongly influenced at the warehouse receiving and inventory control function
  • Our business moves quickly and dynamically; must be adequately experienced in retail supply chain operations to be able to navigate the daily trade-offs and prioritization required to support our buyers/planners as well as our store network (people/facility/equipment/inventory/order management/delivery/etc)
  • Our stores are all independent owner operators; must be a good listener capable of receiving feedback from 400+ independent businesses; must also posses an uncanny ability to “sell” transformation as it may affect stores during our supply chain evolution
