O’Neal Steel is currently seeking a Regional Sales Development Representative for the Central Region. This position can be based in Birmingham, AL; Mobile, AL; Jackson, MS; or Little Rock, AR.

The primary function of the Regional Sales Development Rep is outbound sales prospecting. The work revolves around generating and qualifying new leads and moving them through the sales pipeline. Equipped with well researched information about target prospects and O’Neal Steel, RSDRs build a solid understanding of the industry and sales process to spark meaningful conversations. As a result, they spend much of their time reaching out to potential clients through the early stages of the sales funnel.

Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Seek out and call on new customers which offer the greatest potential for long term, sustainable relationships.
  • Provide ongoing customer service to existing customers.
  • Provide sales management with updates on daily activities to include prospecting, account development, markets or industries.
  • Prospecting for new business in those segments of the market which offer the greatest potential for long-term, sustainable relationships.
  • Actively encouraging all customers to deepen their business relationship with O’Neal Steel through parallel selling and cost saving initiatives.
  • Interact directly with customer to offer quotes, follow-up on quotes, accept orders, and personally enter into O’Neal Steel’s online order fulfillment system.
  • Monitor inventory usage and stocking levels for customer specific items to ensure sufficient inventory is available to fulfill commitments to customer. Work collaboratively with Supply Chain to specify items to purchase and quantities required.
  • Evaluate data to determine profitability of new and existing business.
  • Interact with sales and business development personnel at other O’Neal Steel locations.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations Managers at the appropriate time during the sales process.
  • This person can be located anywhere in our location(s) footprint. Remote position.

Required Skills, Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Successful sales professional with 3+ years of previous metal sales experience.
  • Excellent communication, time management, & problem-solving skills.
  • Work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Proficient with computer applications and internet-based applications.
  • Limited overnight travel may be required.

Desired Skills: interpersonal skills, motivation (energizing), negotiating (persuasiveness), versatility, organization and planning, problem solving, creativity, and tenacity.

General Requirements: Must be able to concentrate and maintain productivity in high pressure situation; must have working knowledge of O'Neal Steel’s general product line. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Experience

Required
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
