Position Summary
The Regional Vice President of Retail Banking has a broad span of control leading a region of retail branches to achieve financial, operational and member experience objectives through coaching, performance management, problem resolution and nurturing key partnerships. The RVP directly manages multi-site branch managers and may also manage individual contributors. The RVP actively participates in the development of sales and service strategies and executes again those strategies to enable achievement of regional performance goals. The RVP acts as an ambassador for Sierra Central Credit Union and is an active member of the community.
- Essential Functions
- Leads and influences to achieve branch network financial, operational and member performance objectives.
- Monitors business results/metrics and adapts sales strategies and tactics.
- Develops and oversees the execution of unique branch performance plans.
- Manages effective networks of internal and external relationships, to actively acquire new members and/or expand existing membership and enhance the member experience.
- Leverage reporting and sales tools to proactively identify and coach team to successfully convert sales and service opportunities.
- Develop branch managers while monitoring progress against goals, RVPs will also support branch managers in the development of other branch employees.
- Create winning teams - motivates and develops staff, including identifying, acquiring, and retaining top talent and managing performance-based issues. Works with Human Resources and the Talent Development Center for recruiting activities to attract, retain and develop successful Branch staff.
- Connects strategy to day-to-day activities and updates the team on a regular basis.
- Collaborates with other departments and leaders to analyze demographics, market opportunities and competitive initiatives to develop a strategic sales process and culture unique to the specific marketplace and in line with credit union banking objectives.
- Champion internal business partnerships and advocates for referral opportunities across all lines of businesses.
- Conduct regularly scheduled branch visits to ensure branch teams are following a disciplined approach in tracking and monitoring sales and service activities, behaviors and pipeline activities while providing superior member experiences.
- Develops sales plans for each branch using market data, competitive analysis, and product/cross sell penetration strategies.
- Develops and monitors Performance Improvement plans for underperforming branches.
- Works closely with Audit and Compliance and Regional Operations Coordinators to ensure the Branch staff are properly trained and current in all areas of compliance, policy and procedures. Provides a consistent and disciplined approach for Branch adherence to audit policies, regulatory requirements and operational procedures.
- Assist Branch Managers in resolution of unusual and/or difficult member situations.
- Demonstrate the standards and principals of RSM 2.0 in every interaction with internal and external members and associates. Incorporates the high-performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example and member service in every facet of work.
- Participates on Special Project teams.
- Acts as an ambassador for Sierra Central Credit Union and is an active member of the community and local chambers of commerce.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
- Minimum of five years of financial institution experience with at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
- Must possess a strong foundation in all areas of branch operation as well as risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Computer proficiency including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

- Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally including the ability to speak and present in an effective manner.
- Reasoning and critical thinking skills
- Proven leadership skills including the ability to coach, motivate, and inspire direct reports and other team members.
- Must work well independently and as a member of a group in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be highly organized and thrive under pressure.
- Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform light work lifting, carry and/or pushing objects up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to perform the following functions: continuous sitting and standing for approximately six or seven hours per day.
- Must be able to travel by car or public transportation to branch locations within the region approximately 50% of the time.
NOTE: Candidates must reside in California in the region the position covers - Yuba City, south to Roseville, east to South Lake Tahoe. Corporate Headquarters is in Yuba City, CA.
Salary Range - $119,780 - $167,240
