Overview:
Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg 8 U nit at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN.

The Med/Surg RN will provide care to medical surgical adult patients with medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions. Are you ready for every day to be different and exciting with a wide range of patient population experiences?

Schedule:
This position will be working 0.6 FTE ( 48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the Night shift with an every 3rd weekend rotation (F,S,S) and a holiday rotation.

Our M ed – Surg 8 Department at the UMMC West Bank:
  • Our unit is comprised of 24 Beds.
  • Care Delivery: 4-5 patient assignment. 5-6 patient assignment on Night Shift.
  • Our team is prepared to work with a variety of adult patient diagnoses including:
  • Sepsis
  • Overdoses/Withdrawals
  • Surgical Procedures
  • Telemetry
  • Diabetes
  • Pneumonia
  • Altered Mental Status (AMS)
  • And more!

Responsibilities/Job Description:
The RN is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act:
  • Prioritizing, delegating, and maintaining oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility.
  • Establishing and implementing nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and re prioritizes care accordingly.
  • Demonstrating the ability to deliver care or service by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Collaborating with patients, families, and health care team members.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications :
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing
  • New Grads encouraged to apply before graduation!

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
