Duties and Responsibilities
This is a highly professional position in the Adult Services Program requiring expertise in medical evaluation and medical assessment of vulnerable adults, This specialized Registered Nurse position is to function as the medical expert for protective investigations, protective supervision, and protective intervention programs both as a team member and independently. The person assigned to this position must be a legally and professionally qualified Registered Nurse with appropriate experience, education, and license and must demonstrate ability in nursing practice and administration. Work is performed under the supervision of the Regional Program Supervisor.

Review and interpret medical records to assist protective investigation and supervision staff with medical decisions relating to investigations of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation and provision of services to vulnerable adult victims.

Support Adult Protective Investigators and Human Services Counselors in the assessment of capacity to consent to services.

Provide written reports of nursing opinions and death reviews in accordance with current operating procedures and policies concerning alleged abuse, neglect, and exploitation reports received through the hotline.

Assist investigative staff by providing medical opinions on issues relating to investigations of adult abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.

Make recommendations for intervention through immediate and on-going protection of victims of adult abuse, neglect and exploitation.

Coordinate the multi-disciplinary Adult Protection Team in the protection, prevention, and implementation of treatment for vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect or exploitation.

Provide professional, medical training to the public and private sectors regarding the medical aspects of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.

Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General nursing skills and knowledge of standard nursing practices.

Ability to read and interpret medical documentation and to summarize medical documentation in well-written reports.

Ability to utilize computer for preparation of reports.

Licensure/registration/certification requirements
Employee must hold a valid, unrestricted Florida Driver's License, have the use of a private vehicle, and maintain current, appropriate vehicle insurance.

Legally and professionally qualified Registered Nurse with appropriate experience, education, and license and must demonstrate ability in nursing practice and administration.

This position will be located in the Alachua, Columbia, Suwannee, Levy, Dixie, Gilchrist, Baker, Bradford, Union, Hamilton, Lafayette, Madison and Taylor County areas
