Job Summary
Under general supervision, coordinate and administer the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and the California Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits programs for 500+ student veterans, dependents of veterans and military affiliated. Serve as the official point of contact between UC Davis and federal and state agencies. Advise students and families, develop campus procedures, and coordinate and implement federal and state regulations to ensure campus compliance. Attend trainings, conferences, and UC systemwide meetings to stay current on VA educational benefits rules and regulations and UC best practices. Convene campus partners representing various student support, administrative and academic units to plan and coordinate services to ensure quality and timely assistance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Experience in evaluation, implementation, and functional use of technology systems and products to meet departmental functions.
- Experience understanding and applying policies and procedures in a higher education environment.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Working knowledge of Veteran Affairs (VA) Educational Chapter Benefits and Academic Senate rules and regulations as they apply to VA certification and eligibility.
- Working knowledge and application of federal and state laws and University policy related to access to and disclosure of information from student and applicant records.
- Strong analytical and math skills to perform mathematical calculations pertaining to VA certification and eligibility.
- Analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to organize material into logical, effective, clear, and concise formats.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow-through on assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain cooperative relationship with students, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Working experience with UC Davis degree requirements.
- Experience with university student information systems.
- Experience with applicable software such as VA Enrollment Manager, AIPortal, and Ellucian Banner.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Working knowledge of UC Davis Academic Senate and Registrar’s Office policies and procedures.
