It’s an exciting time in pet food! Post Holdings, Inc. recently announced an agreement to buy several pet food brands from The J.M. Smucker Co. The transaction is anticipated to close early in the second calendar quarter of 2023. Upon closing of the acquisition, Post expects to create a new pet food platform within Post Consumer Brands. This role is part of the team of 1,000 employees who will soon join the Post family to focus on and grow these iconic pet brands.

Responsibilities:
Job Function Overview:
- Reporting to the Manager of Pet Food Labeling, the Regulatory Scientist will be responsible for the compliant labelling of finished packaging and managing of claims for pet food products. They will be responsible for the registration and certification of pet food products with the individual states. They will also, support the brands by being a regulatory expert and knowledge center for claims substantiation and validation.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize nutritional analysis software to confirm compliant nutritional information and ingredient statements
- Work with R&D, Legal, Quality and Operations to help lead the development and management of claims and the substation processes required to review and document the validation of the claims
- Educate business partners about existing claims and claims proposed or used by other companies
- Develop action plans with R&D, FSQ, Regulatory, Legal, and Commercialization teams to ensure product claims are verified using established control schemes, approved analytical protocols, laboratories, and sampling programs adhering to external and internal requirements
- Serve as a resource for the brands and help to facilitate the commercialization process from a regulatory perspective including review of packaging graphics and advertising
- Support development, review and/or approval of specifications
- Facilitate the registration and licensing of products with the states
- Approval of temporary formula changes
- Manage the review and approval of new or changed ingredients and Import permits
- And other duties as assigned

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; A degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Nutrition Science, or other science-based degree is preferred
Experience:
- 3+ years of Previous experience with Pet Food Nutrition/Regulatory
- Prior experience with nutritional analysis software
- Prior experience working within a PLM system
- Prior experience working with a formula development tool
- Familiarity with FDA, AAFCO, FSMA, and HACCP requirements
- Familiarity with Consumer-Packaged Good production
- Familiarity with animal feed sensory and testing practices
- Experience working with the individual states pet food registration and licensing processes
- Knowledge of US and/or Canadian regulations pertaining to Pet Food
- Management of Import and export regulatory requirements for pet food
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Working Location: Office/Hybrid
This role is located at our Corporate Office in Lakeville, MN.
This position is in-office with a flexible schedule that may entail working from home a couple days a week.
