The Centre of Economics, Policy and History (CEPH), Department of Economics in the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy, invites applications for the position of Research and Policy Officer (RPO). The RPO will report to the CEPH Directors and the School Manager.
Together with the CEPH’s Principal Investigators, the successful candidate will develop and manage the implementation plan for CEPH’s research policy dissemination and outreach activities. The RPO will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Centre in the key strategic areas of policy dissemination and external relations. The RPO will be central in forging connections between the Centre’s researchers and policymakers in Ireland and Northern Ireland and in supporting the overall Centre management by serving on the Centre’s Impact and Outreach Committee. The RPO will manage the organization of conferences, public lectures, workshops, seminar series, and knowledge exchange events. They will play a key role in CEPH’s funding strategies, by identifying and promoting funding opportunities for CEPH researchers, and in realizing CEPH’s research development aims.
The post holder will also take an active role in providing general Centre support, providing leadership in process improvements projects across a range of key areas in the Centre, including financial and academic administration. This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to gain valuable, high-level experience in a dynamic, interesting, and responsible role.
The successful candidate will have experience in policy dissemination, project development and management, process design and implementation, report writing, statistical analysis, and programme administration. They will have excellent management, leadership, and organisational skills.
The RPO will be based on campus at Trinity College Dublin, and will additionally be working with colleagues at Queen’s University Belfast. In addition, the RPO will be working with the wider School administrative team and will be provided with opportunities to work with other College service providers (e.g., Contracts Office, Research Development Office) to ensure that researchers are aware of the relevant offices to be contacted and procedures to be followed in relation to interactions with research sponsors.
Post status: 4 Year Fixed-Term Contract Contract
Hours of Post: 35 hours per week
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Administrative 3 Salary Scale (€40,053 - €50,692 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)

  • Outline experience in organizing complex events, clearly identifying their role in the event management process.
  • Illustrate, through past example, their ability to work on their own initiative and resolve problems.
