Innovative Scientific Solutions, Inc. (ISSI) is an advanced technology company specializing in combustion research for the US Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson AFB. ISSI is currently seeking candidates for a Research Engineer position in the Advanced Concepts Group. The Advanced Concepts Group focuses on fast-paced projects that have an immediate impact to the warfighter, as well as fundamental combustion research pertaining to piston, gas turbine, and detonation engines. Primary responsibilities for this position will be rotating detonation engine thermal and aero design as well as experimentation and data analysis. Qualified candidates will have experience in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, propulsion, energy conversion, combustion, and heat and mass transfer.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

-Design, setup, and conduct combustion-related research experiments

-Use computer software to reduce and analyze experimental data

-Author technical papers and attend technical conferences to present current research

Skills & Experience Desired:

-Hands-on experience in the application of engineering theory and practice through technical projects

-Demonstrated ability to work strongly with a team as well as individually as a self-starter

-Experience with data acquisition equipment, software, and instrumentation

-Strength in computer programming as well as Matlab, Unigraphics, AutoCad, and Microsoft Office

-Experience with machine tools and basic metal fabrication

-Ability to troubleshoot basic digital and analog electronic circuits

-Proficiency in communicating technical content in writing as well as oral briefings

Education:

B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Ph.D.in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering postdoc or full time

Compensation:

Commensurate with level of education and amount of relevant experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
