The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a self-starting individual who is passionate about working with patient and caregiver populations and has experience in patient engagement. This role requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to work independently including strong project management skills. In addition to working on research projects, this individual will be responsible for assisting the team in the development of patient engagement projects and training, as well as facilitating virtual meetings and focus groups. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following: qualitative data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting skills, to promote evidence-based programming and related initiatives.


The Opportunity

PAF is currently seeking a Research and Evaluation Project Manager to join our team. This role will manage the development and execution of mixed method research projects in collaboration with PAF’s health services research, evaluation, and data team. The Manager will assist in the planning and development of research-related events, including Patient Insight Congress and workshops/webinars with external partners.


The Research and Evaluation Project Manager will be responsible for:

Research & Evaluation

  • Support data collection, interpretation, and visualization to promote evidence-based programming, policy, and related initiatives.
  • Work closely with research and data team to develop and carry out research protocols including participant data collection, analysis, results interpretation, and dissemination and reporting of results.
  • Lead qualitative components of mixed methods projects.
  • Utilizes scientific knowledge and quantitative and qualitative research skills to perform a variety of research- and operations-related activities, data management, analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, report preparation and management of project schedules.
  • Identifies appropriate project resources (internal/external) and coordinates the curation of scientific evidence.
  • Performs environmental scans, literature reviews, and needs assessments in the field of patient experience and healthcare access and affordability.
  • Provide research team coordination, including, but not limited to, meetings, internal communication and correspondence with all internal and external project personnel.
  • Monitor and track project progress, documents, and milestones to ensure projects are on track.
  • Contribute to vision and strategy to combine multiple discreet projects into a cohesive research agenda focused on PAF’s mission and PII strategic goals.

Patient Engagement

  • Embed principles of patient engagement and patient-centered outcomes into research projects and protocols.
  • Coach peers and project partners on best practices of patient/community engaged research.
  • Work with team to develop necessary resources, tools, and materials to support research partners and patient advisors in research engagement.

Meetings and Workshops

  • Assist in the planning and development of research components of events, including Patient Insight Congress.
  • Provide support to research and engagement advisory initiatives – including PII’s Experts by Experience Advisory Board and other PII partnered advisory groups.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health research or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of professional research or evaluation experience required (master’s degree can satisfy this requirement).
  • Relevant experience in disease focused research, public health intervention, or access & affordability preferred.
  • Relevant experience in patient engagement, community based participatory research, and/or health equity preferred.
  • Ability to write reports, research proposals, project briefs, and results summaries, abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas with public (lay) audiences.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of survey platforms, data visualization tools and related technology (ex: Qualtrics, Tableau, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with individuals across all organizational levels.

Salary range to start: $54,000 - $57,000
