Job Summary:

This position coordinates the administrative, operational, and outreach activities of the research program of Dr. Maria Mora Pinzon in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics. Dr. Mora Pinzon's research program seeks to improve access to culturally appropriate resources for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias for Hispanic/Latino communities, increase the communities' capacity to prevent dementia, and assist healthcare providers in providing early diagnosis and high quality treatments. This position will provide assistance and support to educational activities and research projects about Alzheimer's Disease and dementia that seek to increase the availability of culturally appropriate resources for Latino communities. This position will be instrumental in planning and leading operational, outreach, and promotional activities of the research program and serves as a subject matter expert.

For this position, the selected individual will develop and implement processes to support the research, including: establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, developing standards of operations, participating in the hiring of staff, and supervising staff and students. Responsibilities:
Plans and coordinates the administrative, operational, outreach and promotional activities related to research studies that may be collaborative and independent. Serves as a subject matter expert.
  • 35% Coordinates the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research program(s)
  • 5% Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information
  • 15% Plans, develops, and implements processes and protocols to support research aims
  • 15% Serves as a unit liaison and subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborates across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives
  • 15% Monitors program budget(s) and approves unit expenditures
  • 5% Develops policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program
  • 10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of staff and student employees

Education:

Preferred

Degree related to leadership or policy preferred



Qualifications:
Required:
  • Fluency in oral and written Spanish language
  • Experience in leading new projects, including the definition of scope, budget, and timeline; and providing logistical, administrative support to the team to accomplish the predetermined goals.
  • Experience using project management software tools such as MS Project, Excel, Teams, Zoom, SharePoint and/or other similar resources.
- Experience identifying program deficiencies and delivery problems and developing corrective actions or strategies that support short- and long-term goals

Preferred:
  • 2 years of management experience with basic understanding of project management methodologies
  • Experience working in community-based services
  • Experience working with Latino communities or Latino older adults
  • Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and other staff in educational settings.

Candidates should have ability to work collaboratively, solve problems creatively, communicate effectively, and utilize strong interpersonal skills to achieve project success in a multicultural environment. They should also have ability to learn institutional processes and experience coordinating with a variety of departments. Interest in working in the field of Alzheimer's Disease or Dementias preferred.


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum starting salary for the position is $60,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.



Additional Information:

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
