The lab studies the role of hypoxia in the development of metastasis. The laboratory utilizes 2D and 3D cell culture. A novel hypoxia fate-marking mouse model recently developed in the lab, high-resolution/high-content microscopy, biochemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics approach to decipher the role of hypoxia in cancer spread to identify therapeutic strategies and potential prognostic markers. We are seeking a Research Specialist who will be an active member of a dynamic, team-oriented, and expanding research group. The candidate will also participate in the development of novel animal models to investigate metastatic spread. This laboratory position requires experience in basic laboratory techniques in molecular biology, tissue culture and animal handling. Must have the ability to perform assay development independently.Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibility for planning, implementation, evaluation and interpretation results under the guidance of the PI.
Compiles, analyzes, and interprets research data using various computer software applications.
Conducts library research and participates in editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.
Must be able to handle mice and perform routine injections via ip or iv.
Ability to perform Real Time-PCR and immunoblotting experiments independently.
Work with vendors to obtain quotes and coordinate equipment repairs.
Organize and maintain lab stocks.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry or related field.
One year laboratory experience performing relevant techniques.
Master's degree, with related graduate research, may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with flow cytometry.
A minimum of two years related experience.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
