Position summary
The EU has funded an Erasmus+ project to develop a Dairy Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE). UCC is the lead Irish partner on this project and will join eight other national CoVEs to significantly contribute to dairy training and lifelong development for a sustainable Dairy Sector. The Dairy CoVE Coordinator will be a dynamic professional responsible for providing high-level operational support in a complex training ecosystem. In addition, they will manage the integration of UCC's Dairy activities from each of the various parts of the knowledge triangle (Research, Education and Industry) to deliver on our ambitions for a European Dairy Training Hub, a European Dairy Academy and Ireland's Dairy Centre of Vocational Excellence.
The Dairy CoVE Coordinator will be joining a leading team of dairy professionals. UCC is the number one University for Dairy Science in Ireland (and 10th Globally), with two of the most highly cited dairy researchers on the team. We have recently expanded our team of Dairy Researchers and Dairy Education programmes (with the Food Industry Training Unit) and are currently adding to the physical infrastructure. The Dairy Centre of Vocational Excellence will be part of the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences.
The School specialises in Human nutrition, food science and the supply chain from farm to consumer. UCC's one-hundred-year history in the quality education of students in food and nutrition is recognised and acclaimed, with a national and international reputation. With state-of-the-art facilities, the School is recognised for its research and collaboration in human nutrition and health, cereals and beverage technology, dairy science, food packaging, ingredients technology, consumer behaviour, food economics, supply chain management, international food policy and rural development. Our staff are among the most highly cited scientists in their respective fields and contribute to developing policies that improve public health, safeguard food safety and promote innovation and sustainability of the rural economy and the modern food industry.
Post Duration: 3 years
Salary: €51,000 p.a. (Personal Rate)
