This position is 100% grant funded.

• Occ Summary: Perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting laboratory tests, experiments and determinations in support of Duke University research operations.

Work Performed: This position will perform immunization studies in mice. Mice will be immunized by various routes (injection routes, intranasal routes, sublingual routes, gastric routes). Serum and mucosal samples will be collected after immunization. This position must also perform laboratory assays such as ELISA to monitor vaccine-induced, antigen-specific antibody responses. This position must adhere to established lab data management standard operating procedures and follow established experimental protocols. This position is for a specific project and the project funding is expected to last approximately one year, with the possibility of renewal for additional years. Other literature for information applicable to research experiments, laboratory equipment required for specific tests. Obtain, prepare, mount and stain tissue, blood and other substances for microscopic examination, performance of duties; clean and maintain laboratory equipment. Review work of lower level laboratory personnel within designated areas and assist in training new personnel.

Required Qualifications at this level

Education:

Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

Preference:

B.A/ B.S or higher degree in biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field.
