Job Summary:

The Residency and Induction Coach is responsible for working closely with the other Residency and Induction Coach and Assistant Director of Residency and Induction. The primary responsibilities of the Residency and Induction Coach are to support Induction Guides, new Teachers, Residents and Attending Teachers. This work includes the development and implementation of professional development sessions, co-planning, modeling and guidance as it pertains to the Danielson Framework aligned with specific outcomes while maintaining and promoting the Propel Schools K-12 Team mindset.

Key Job Elements:

  • Assist in identifying new resident teacher candidates
  • Model Lessons in Classrooms on a Daily/ Weekly basis
  • Provide technical support to new and resident teachers regarding teacher duties and responsibilities
  • Model effective research-based teaching practices for new and resident teachers
  • Participate in Immersion Week
  • Support in development of Immersion Week
  • Create and deliver pedagogical workshops for new and resident teachers
  • Co- plan and collaborate with members of the K-12 team to increase new teacher effectiveness
  • Maintain effective communication with Assistant Director of Residency and Induction
  • Provide feedback and support building Induction Guides
  • Provide support to previous teacher residency cohorts
  • Provide intensive support to teachers struggling with classroom management techniques and relationship building with students
  • Provide coaching and mentoring support for Induction Guides
  • Provide mentoring support for new and resident teachers
  • Maintain and promote the Propel K-12 Schools Team mindset
  • Co-plan Induction activities
  • Co-plan and facilitate Residency Meetings
  • Monitor the progress of resident and new teachers regarding performance in all Danielson Domains
  • Develop and conduct appropriate professional learning opportunities for new, resident, and struggling teachers

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • PA Teaching Certification
  • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues
  • Strong pedagogical knowledge relevant to grade span
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in oral and written communication
  • Proven ability to analyze student data to make instructional decisions
  • Proven exceptional classroom management skills
  • Ability to self-manage and organize time appropriately
  • Ability to initiate, teach and assist Educators in establishing and maintaining a learning environment conducive to positive student outcomes
  • Able to provide in-field coaching and support for new Teachers and Residents
  • Must demonstrate the ability to create and deliver appropriate professional development opportunities that immediately transfer into practice for adult learners.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to move around the classroom at least 75% of the time while engaging with scholars.
  • The person in this position constantly operates a computer and other technology in the classroom to support instruction.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with various internal and external stakeholders regarding curriculum, instruction and assessment. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
