This position is a nurse manager position that requires an active nursing license in the state of California.

Job Title: Resident Care Manager (Full-Time, Salaried)
Position Summary: The Resident Care Manager is responsible for assuring health services issues of assigned residents are addressed, as well as other service issues that have a potential impact upon the health of residents.
Qualifications:
- Strong Management Skills, including strong interpersonal and communication skills (3-5 years in managerial role preferred).
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Meet state or provincial health-related requirements.
- Maintain current professional license (RN or LPN/LVN).
- Maintain CPR and first aid certification.
- Maintain any certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform health services duties including but not limited to completing monthly work schedules for Resident Assistants, obtaining replacement RAs in case of absences, assisting Health Services Director in assuring that RAs offer services according to service plan and perform other duties according to daily assignments, assure service review meetings occur per policy, and attend service plan review meetings.
- Assure stable staff of Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants by recruiting, hiring, supervising, evaluating, counseling, and, if necessary, terminating employees.
- Assure Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants are educated and trained using available Resource Manuals, assure Resident Assistants are educated and trained in Memory Care Resource.
- Assure regular competency evaluations of Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants are completed.
- Conduct continuing education and training for Charge Nurses, Medication Techs, Resident Assistants as necessary.
- Supervise Engagement Coordinators to assure optimal development and implementation of Connections activity program.
- Complete Nursing Assessments and auxiliary evaluations of residents and all other required and/or appropriate evaluations, addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
- Assess residents, at minimum, upon initiation and completion of alert charting process.
- Monitor physician orders and assure correct implementation.
- Monitor laboratory and other test results.
- Monitor MAR
- Establish weight regimens, assure weights are entered on MAR or other appropriate location, and address all significant weight changes.
- Establish vital sign regimens and related notification parameters; assure entered on MAR and adhered to.
- Monitor alert charting, especially to assure appropriate employee response to issues.
- Monitor skin problems using Current Skin Problems form; address identified skin problems.
- Monitor inter-shift health services report.
- Monitor Communication Log.
- Monitor and address consulting pharmacy reports.
- Complete review of Resident Incident Reports.
- Advise health services employees concerning resident health issues, by telephone if not in community (carries cellular telephone).
- Effectively utilize and coordinate services with home health, hospice, and other agencies.
- Assure physician orders are reviewed, sent to physician, and returned with physician signatures quarterly.
- Perform all responsibilities related to delegation of nursing tasks to unlicensed staff (in states or provinces in which such delegation is utilized).
- Investigate controlled substance count discrepancies.
- Assure controlled substances are destroyed as necessary per policy and state or provincial regulations.
- Monitor to assure Garden Daily Assignments duties are performed.
- Monitor to assure Arbor Daily Assignments duties are performed.
- Perform quality assurance audits as directed.
- Effectively communicate with residents, their family members, and other concerned parties.
- Effectively communicate with physicians and other health care professionals involved with services to residents.
- Assure compliance with all federal and state or provincial regulations pertaining to health services.
- Assure physician orders, laboratory reports, and other data is scanned and filed in resident chart.
- Maintain Medication Room files per policy
- Maintain Tracking Reports binder per policy.
- Maintain Pending Fax Communication System per policy.
- Coordinate annual flu vaccine clinic.
- Assist health services employees with duties as necessary.
- Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees).
Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all community policies and procedures.
- Adhere to dress/appearance code. (Changes in attire may be permitted for special circumstances as directed by your supervisor).
- Perform all assigned work for the agreed-upon wage, accepting no additional payment or gifts from residents, vendors, or others.
- Promote resident advocacy and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Serve as a role model for other employees by displaying a responsible, cooperative, respectful, and positive attitude.
- Represent the community in the community at large in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
- Demonstrate ability to perform duties under time constraints and deadlines.
- Attend education and training classes as required by state or provincial regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
