Boulder County Community Services is seeking to hire a Resource Specialist. This position is part of the Community Living Program within the Area Agency on Aging. This position assists adults over 60, caregivers, and adults with disabilities who contact the Boulder County Area Agency looking for resource information. The Resource Specialist is responsible for meeting with clients, following an intake and assessment process, determining eligibility, developing an action plan, and facilitating case and resource coordination. Candidates should be committed to equity in service delivery.
This is a full-time, benefited position. This position will work Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, regular weekday business hours, with occasional weekends when outreach and special events are scheduled. This Resource Specialist in this position has scheduled office hours every Tuesday and Thursday at the Nederland Community Center located at 750 CO-72, Nederland, CO 80466. This position is also required to complete home visits in the clients’ homes in Boulder County and is focused on serving clients in the S outhern Mountain Region of Boulder County (Nederland, Ward, etc.). Most team meetings will be at the Boulder County Main Campus, located at 3482 Broadway St., Boulder, CO 80304 and possibly other locations that are to be determined. Other times the person in this position can work from home or in other Boulder County office spaces. Note that hybrid expectations may change over time. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt .
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $55,956 - $68,220 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
- Phone Screening: April 13th
- First Round Interviews: April 17th
- Second Round Interviews: April 20th
- Reference Check: April 22nd
- Staffs the Area Agency on Aging Virtual Call Center and responds to incoming email inquiries
- Performs client interviews, intake and assessments to determine service needs and resource requirements; serves as an agency representative with other service providers to address service requirements, availability and needs assessment; makes resource referrals to both internal and external programs; provides client advocacy based on required situations
- Provides services through electronic communication, telephone communication, and/or in-person visits in the office, consumer's home or other locations
- Evaluates eligibility for internal short-term assistance programs and processes applications
- Evaluates eligibility for public benefits and provides support to clients who need assistance completing their applications
- Documents program eligibility status; determines case safety level, emergency status and/or need for crisis intervention or mandatory reporting; determines, develops, and communicates client service action/case plans; monitors and documents plan status and performs follow up on case services
- Provides thoughtful and compassionate, resource coordination to clients as assigned
- Ensures needs are being identified and addressed utilizing appropriate resources
- Uses strengths-based Intake and Assessment methods for potential clients and determines level of service and depth of interaction(s) required to support individuals
- Provides appropriate referrals to other community programs and services
- Documents in an unbiased manner, maintains case documentation and case notes
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality in written, verbal, and electronic communication
- Supports outreach and education plans to connect the AAA with older adults in Boulder County in collaboration with internal programs and other community partners
- Performs related duties as required
- May be reassigned in emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 6 years of combined related education and experience, specifically working with adults over 60, adults with disabilities and/or caregiving. Any equivalent combination of relevant education, experience and training is encouraged.
