Job description
We are looking for a Risk Director to be a key member of our Risk, Compliance and Professional Standards team. You will be working with both operations and corporate to continually assess and identify potential risks, evaluating these to ensure they are appropriately mitigated.
Key responsibilities

Work closely with the Head of Risk and Quality

Overseeing the effective operation of the firms risk framework
-
Establish and quantify the firm’s 'risk appetite' and ensure risk approach adheres accordingly
-
Ensure high quality risk management is embedded, enhanced and maintained and promote learning and development of all staff in risk processes and risk policies
-
Ensure that a positive, open and supportive risk management culture is adopted and embedded throughout the firm
-
Work with business unit risk leaders to identify, analyse, mitigate, manage and monitor risks.

Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations whilst taking a commercial and practical approach to risk based challenges and offer appropriate solutions

Lead efforts to identify, analyse, and assess newly identified risks within the business, including new service offerings, variations in services and / or business acquisitions.

Horizon scan to increase awareness of external risks affecting the business

Development and review of risk management related policies and procedures and key risk indicators to ensure they are sufficient to meet regulatory requirements and be proactive in identifying areas for control improvement.

Taking responsibility for developing risk management systems and tools, to enable forward planning and effective reporting and monitoring

Take ownership of the risk incident management process ensuring recording of risk events, managing and delivering risk incident reports;

Ensure compliance with member firm obligations;

Ensure robust business continuity plans are in place at firm-wide and business unit level

Provide risk support to assigned ‘projects’, including new business and change initiatives.

Assist with the management and development of the functional risk registers and firm-wide risk register

Prepare monthly enterprise risk reporting and lead on its continuous improvement.

Work closely with the quality management team to ensure Firm’s risk assessment aligns with requirements of the quality management standards and provide reporting on such compliance

Coach, train, and provide guidance to business stakeholders to promote best practice in risk management and effective internal controls.

Partnering with business unit risk leaders to champion good practices and behaviour that will encourage and embed strong risk management practices and their practical application

Build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships at all levels of the organisation

Ensure robust documentation is maintained for the Firm’s risk assessment processes
Competencies
-
Knowledge and experience commensurate with this role and having dealt with regulatory environment both onshore and offshore covering all service lines offerings

Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, and the different types of financial and non-financial risks faced by the business
-
Must be able to demonstrate a broad technical knowledge and expertise covering conduct of business matters, corporate governance matters and regulatory risk and regulatory change matters

Practical and commercial approach to problem solving

Organise, methodical, strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills

Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to produce and present effective presentations and training sessions
