Job Description:

Specialized Orthopaedic and Neurologic care are provided on this 20-bed unit acute care unit. Our patients can be post-surgical or neuro medical. We focus on pain control, ambulation and preparing our patients for discharge.

This position would float to all acute care units at Waterloo and Cedar Falls Medical Centers.

Through evidence-based practice, the RN utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcome-based care of patients. The RN supervises and coordinates care provided to patients by the LPN, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. The RN facilitates communication with physicians, patient and family, other departments and/or team members. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.

· Evaluating medical information, as well as providing direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre-and post-surgery patients.

· Preparing, administering and recording prescribed medications.

· Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs.

· Adjusting specialized medical equipment as needed, as well as interpreting and recording measurements.

· Monitoring patients' vitals and reporting adverse reactions to medications in a timely manner.

· Collaborating on discharge planning with the healthcare team.

· Answering questions and educating patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.

· Maintaining and updating patient files, medical charts, and health records.

· Adhering to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour
