ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and is located in Pinetops, North Carolina.

Your responsibilities

  • Working out equipment preventive maintenance plan and implement the PM
  • Test, commission, program, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, retrofit and install Automation systems (Conveyors, Robots, PLCs, controllers, etc)
  • Identifying potential equipment failures and taking corrective actions, troubleshooting complex equipment failures, and making recommendation to avoid same problem in the future
  • Conducting repairs, identifying technical problems, and analyzing them
  • Coordinating, preparing, and ensuring that all materials, parts and equipment are available and of appropriate quality
  • Being responsible for the improvement of production line tooling/equipment to improve production efficiency
  • Training operator for machine operating, daily maintenance and safety related
  • Ensuring that Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices are of high standard and working to eliminate unsafe practices and incidents

Your background

  • An associate degree in electronic, mechanical, robotic engineer or control and automation engineering is a plus
  • 2 plus years of experience in working with robots or automation
  • Sound knowledge in PLC's and ABB robots desirable
  • Make a work site and site activities safe for self and all other members of the site team
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on capability
  • Ability to understand documented instructions, procedures, and electrical drawings
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, and ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Analytical and organized with good planning skills
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
