Job Title: Safety Professional
Location(s): Grand Junction, CO
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Hiring Range: $77,000.00 - $102,000.00/yr. (The anticipated starting salary pay range of $77,000.00 - $102,000.00/yr. is based on minimum requirements for this position. Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and at least 12 years of relevant experience. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant's education, training, and experience.)

This position is required to travel and be in the field at least 50% of the time.
Primary responsibilities and essential functions:
- Assist the Legacy Management Support (LMS) Safety and Health Manager in carrying out the day-to-day operations of the safety and health department.
- Provide field support to assist project managers in implementation of LMS Safety and Health program related topics included but not limited to: Lockout, Confined Space, Emergency Response, Hazard Communication, Overhead Cranes, Mobile Equipment, radiological, etc.
- Provide technical support and problem solving in troubleshooting safety and radiological issues.
- Assist in writing technical and management systems reports and documents.
- Assist with internal compliance audits and program evaluations.
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis, develop controls, and change controls.
- Assist in conducting Instructor lead safety‐related training classes.
- Conduct work according to approved work plan, ensuring procedures are followed.
- Assist in evaluating data, reviewing reports, and writing report sections.
- Work with office personnel in planning field activities.
- Support other field data collection activities such as collecting coordinates of mine features with GPS, soil sampling, Radiological walk over surveying, occasionally water sampling.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate hazards and controls and changing conditions.

- Current and valid driver's license.
- A solid understanding of OSHA, NFPA, DOT, EPA, and DOE Orders. Experience working in a 10 CFR 851, Worker Safety and Health Program and 10 CFR 835.
- Must be willing to pursue Department of Energy Certified RCT, after provided training.
- Must be willing to pursue additional safety certifications.
- Prior safety and health field experience.
- Safety certification such as CSP or equivalent.
- Radiological technician experience.
- Field work in environmental conditions, remediation background preferred.
- Knowledge and use of radiation and safety equipment preferred.
- Must be willing to pursue additional safety certification.
- Experience working on DOE remediation projects.
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Hazardous Materials, Science or related field and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Sedentary Work Category – The employee exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
AND
The employee exerts up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Able to travel on uneven ground for several miles (10-20 miles) per day under adverse weather conditions. Much of the traveling is up and down hills. Able to work in hot, cold, windy, and sometimes wet conditions. Able to carry up 50 pounds of gear in the field.
The employee is regularly required to handle or feel, to reach, and communicate. The employee is frequently required to move about and maintain various positions. The employee must have the ability to perceive the environment and observe technical material and emails.
