Job Summary

Avantor is hiring! We are seeking a goal-oriented, team collaborator to join our team as a Sales Representative for our Education Sales team, supporting the Arizona territory (Phoenix).


The Sales Representative is responsible for providing selling products/services to current and potential customers within the higher education, while working with management to develop strategic territory business plans to achieve sales growth and quota attainment. The representative will work in the field and meet with customers in-person, daily.

The team

Avantor’s Education Sales team works closely with educational institutions to delivery affordable solutions for capital equipment, consumables and other laboratory supplies that meet the customers’ requirements and specifications, while also meeting long-term territory goals in line with the business unit strategy.


What we’re looking for

Education: Bachelor of Science, required

Experience: 3-5 years laboratory experience, required, with 1-2 years sales experience, preferred

Technical: Strong computer and analytical skills, proficient in MS Office suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business-to-business sales experience in distribution, supply chain, consumables, with a preference to those within a scientific industry

  • Experience working in a large complex-matrixed environment, that involves multiple stakeholders and decision makers

  • Salesforce and SAP experience

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Understand customer needs through relationship building and interpersonal skills while asking clarifying questions to ensure accurate and timely delivery of solutions

  • Manage Avantor’s vast product portfolio, and work directly with local manufacturer representatives to develop and continually improve product knowledge, arrive at most favored pricing, and improve account profitability –strong negotiation skills

  • Exhibit curiosity both with customers and within the Avantor team

  • Limited overnight travel (team meetings/trainings, annual sales conference, etc.)

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT
Typically works in a home office environment with extensive regional travel to customer locations.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
