Job description
- Observe children and identify their strengths, or areas of improvement
- Offer guidance to students, parents and teachers.
- Monitor the progress of children with difficuties to observe if improvement is made.
- Work with other teachers to help with the overall development of the students, not just their academic development.
- Interact with parents, understand how the child is performing at home and whether there are any relevant conditions prevailing at home that may affect the child adversely and be able to advise parents on how to assist the child.
- Recommend appropriate psychological help if required.
- Work with special needs and disabled children in some cases
A successful candidate will have knowledge in all aspects of school counseling, current knowledge of social-emotional learning curriculum and instructionsand be able to incorporate behavior support strategies, Conduct individual/small group counseling and conflict resolution. Candidates must have strong communication collaborative and instructional skills and be able to work effectively with adminstration, other counselors, school based clinicians, school nurse and behavior consultant as part of the school social, emotional learning team.
