JOB POSTING SEASONAL MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT
CSU STRATA is a private, not-for-profit corporation, legally separate from Colorado State University, located in Fort Collins, CO. Founded in 1941, CSU STRATA supports and serves the Colorado State University System (CSU System) through intellectual property management & technology transfer services, strategic real estate management, development services, special project oversight, and operational management. The CSU System consists of Colorado State University Fort Collins (CSU), CSU Pueblo, CSU Global, CSU Todos Santos Center and the CSU Spur campus at the National Western Center
CSU STRATA is seeking a Seasonal Maintenance Assistant to work from May to August, eight hour per day assisting with maintenance tasks in a multi-unit apartment complex.
QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience
- General maintenance experience preferred.
- Intermediate level experience with basic hand and power tools, climbing ladders, carrying repetitive loads.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, time management skills for effective handling of multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated good oral and written communication.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance Activities: Maintenance tasks in a multi-unit facility; duties include moving furniture between apartments and storage, communicate with Maintenance Lead about apartment and site conditions, alert Maintenance Lead to safety concerns and items in need of attention or repair. Assist with building maintenance, inspections, and monitoring of grounds, to ensure a safe and clean environment; tasks include but not limited to weed pulling, vacuuming, spot cleaning, paint touch-ups, sweeping, wiping surfaces, organizing materials, and trash pick-up.
Equipment, Materials and Safety: Equipment necessary to complete certain tasks may include hand tools, power tools, ladders, vacuums, etc. Materials may include paint, glue, fasteners, lubricants, cleaning products, etc. All equipment and materials are to be used safely. Adherence to safety policies and procedures and use of safety equipment, including using back brace, eye protection, and gloves are mandatory. All duties are to be performed in a safe and efficient manner.
Work Environment/ Physical Demands/Equipment
The work environment and physical demands are characteristic of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. - Physical ability to maintain continuous hours standing, walking, bending, and stretching, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift and/or carry items and loads, repetitively, with weight ranges varying from 10 to 100+ pounds; negotiate stairs, climb ladders, enter crawl spaces, and use scaffolding in the performance of duties; use standard maintenance and property equipment, including street sweeper; exposure to vibrations, weather conditions, and working in confined or restricted spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional loud environments and equipment.
Salary Range: $14.50 – 16.50/hour, depending on qualifications.
