Position: Secondary Special Education Teacher –Self Contained; Michigan Teacher Certificate

Salary: Per SCEA Master Agreement

Direct Supervisor: Director of Student Services/Building Principal

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
• Must possess a valid Michigan Teacher Certification with Special Education endorsement;
• Must possess experience developing a transition program;
• Must participate in and attend all IEP meetings;
• Must possess a willingness and ability to work cooperatively on a teaching team;
• Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of disabilities and their educational implications;
• Must possess an understanding of curriculum design and instructional strategies;
• Must possess an understanding and knowledge of learning theories and child development appropriate for the various disabilities;
• Must possess knowledge of Special Education laws and regulations;
• Must possess a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of due process and data privacy requirements.
• Must possess a compassionate and patient approach to working with students;
• Must possess strong communication and collaboration skills working with students, parents, and colleagues;
• Must be flexible and able to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs;
• Must possess effective classroom management and behavior intervention skills;
• Must possess a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field of special education.

FLSA Status: Exempt
