Manatee County Public Works Department provides many of the basic services that affect the daily lives of everyone who lives, works, and plays in unincorporated Manatee County. Primarily, the department is responsible for the administration, planning, engineering, maintenance, and construction management of the County’s infrastructure.
SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST – HR Liaison
Your day will consist of tracking and recruiting for vacancies within the Public Works Department and working with Division Managers to facilitate position reclassification as requested. You will advise and assist Management, Supervisors and Employees on policy and procedures related to Human Resources and Employee Benefits as needed, as well as process Employee Personnel Actions from hire to separation.

What You Will Do:
Employee Recruitment for Public Works Department- In-Process New Hires to include compliance with DFWP and FTA/DOT Policies and Regulations.
- Process Employee Personnel Actions to include Employee Data Updates and Reporting.
- Serve as a Time Keeping Liaison for the Department, Payroll, & Human Resources.
- Assist Hiring Managers, Supervisors, and Public Works Employees on Personnel and Human Resource matters.
- Remain current on the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) HR Policies and Procedures, and all State and Federal Human Resources Laws and Regulations.
- Occasional travel to off-site locations for job related events/trainings.
- A positive, professional, and effective communicator who displays enthusiasm and excellent in-person customer service.
- Proficient in performing HR related functions efficiently and confidentially.
- Able to prioritize competing and changing tasks, meet deadlines, and fulfill requests in a timely manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Applications, to include SharePoint, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
- Flexible individual able to adapt to changing circumstances within the Department and/or County related to job assignments and/or reporting locations within Manatee County.
Required Skills:
High school diploma, or equivalent certificate of competency.- 3 or more years of administrative experience in Human Resources and/or supporting upper-level management, depending on area of assignment.
Desired Skills:
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar Human Resources certification desired for those positions that serves as HR Liaison.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
