The Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR) is a division of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (CS&Co).
Schwab clients hold alternative investments spread across privately and publicly registered funds. As more and more clients incorporate alternative investments into their portfolios, we see an opportunity to expand the set of alternative products and funds from which they can choose.
The SCFR Alternative Investments Research team stands at the crossroads of that opportunity. Collaborating with Quantitative Investment Research, the Alternative Investment Consultants, and Alternative Investments Product Management, the Alternative Investments Research team is responsible for sourcing best-of-breed funds from across the alternatives universe (hedge funds, private equity, private debt, and private real estate) for inclusion on Schwab’s Retail Alternative Investments platform.
Purpose
The Senior Alternative Investments Research Analyst will have ownership of the privates universe (private equity, private debt, and private real estate) and will lead our manager search and manager investment due diligence efforts, as well as being the subject matter expert in that space.
What you are good at
The role will be responsible for working with both Quantitative Investment Research, the Alternative Investment Consultants and Product Management to determine the areas of focus for manager search.
The Senior Alternative Investments Research Analyst will lead the manager search process from initial screening through final committee approval. The Senior Alternative Investments Research Analyst will also be responsible for working with the Operational Due Diligence team during the search process.
Once onboarded, the Senior Alternative Investments Research Analyst will be responsible for leading ongoing manager investment due diligence and working with the Operational Due Diligence team on ongoing operational due diligence efforts.
The Senior Alternative Investments Research Analyst will also be responsible for mentoring other analysts.
What you have
7-10+ years of private credit (preferred) and\or private equity manager search and investment due diligence experience- Strong knowledge of private debt (preferred) and private equity
- Knowledge of private real estate strategies is a plus
- Knowledge of hedge fund strategies is a plus
- BA/BS degree required
- MBA or other advanced degree in finance a plus
- CFA or CAIA, or progress towards, highly desirable
- Knowledge of private investments benchmarks and databases
- Knowledge of hedge fund benchmarks and databases a plus
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Series 7 license required (Willing to consider COE depending on level of experience)
