2 POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 1 Full-Time and 1 Grant Funded

Provide maintenance and operating services for County buildings through preventive maintenance, repair and event set up and emergency management system operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains the building systems for safe and comfortable operation
  • Repairs and maintains HVAC systems and associated equipment
  • Maintains and assists with plumbing repairs and assist with other associated building repairs
  • Works with vendors and contractors. May oversee work and ensure that it is properly performed
  • Provides other general building maintenance services
  • Helps move furniture as needed
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

NOTE: You must fill out the work history and education sections of application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified.

  • High school diploma or GED + Three (3) full-time years in general maintenance and specialized experience in HVAC, plumbing or electrical. (Full-time = 2,080 work hours per year)

  • Supervisory and training experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of A/C, plumbing, electrical and operation of chill water systems and boiler system.

  • Must have knowledge of building operating systems with expertise in one area.

  • Valid and current TX driver's license required.


THIS POSITION MAY REQUIRE OVERTIME, ROTATING SHIFTS, NIGHTS, EVENINGS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAY WORK
(THE SELECTED CANDIDATE(S) FOR THIS POSITION MUST TAKE AND PASS A PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION)

If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include financial history reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to lift, carry, climb, stoop, walk, stand, sit, work indoors/outdoors with loud equipment, push, and pull. May be exposed to communicable diseases, various parasites, dangerous chemicals and electrical hazards. This position may require overtime, rotating shifts nights, evenings, weekends and holiday work. Candidates must have the ability to pass a criminal background investigation prior to employment.
