Job description
As a Navy Business Development Manager, you will be focused on growing and capturing new business with the Department of the Navy. You must be someone who appreciates the autonomy to be responsible for the management and execution of the full BD life-cycle process across multiple simultaneous pursuits and proposals. You will.be a valued member of a team of passionate, service-focused professionals, located all around North America. Ideally, you will work from one of our three DC offices (Alexandria, VA, Ballston, Arlington, VA, or Crystal City, Arlington, VA) but we are open to other ARA office locations and teleworking with the right candidate.
What you’ll do as a Navy Business Development Manager
- Provide input into corporate long-range business planning and develop a detailed associated marketing strategy and business plan specific to Navy marketing targets
- Develop a pipeline of Navy marketing opportunities and develop and execute capture plans for these opportunities.
- Drive all aspects of successful capture. from early identification of opportunities and assisting with shaping requirements, through the proposal development and submission process.
- Assess and interpret Navy market intel (directly from customers and indirectly from publications, trade shows, and other sources) and share intel with others through regular communications and through entry into ARA’s customer resource management (CRM) system
- Develop and maintain business relationships with Navy program managers PMs and senior leadership as well as key industrial partners to support marketing targets
- Contact customers on a regular basis to understand their needs/plans and to describe how ARA technologies may help their efforts
- Serve as the ARA Customer Portfolio Manager (CPM) for Navy
- Assist with preparation/delivery of briefings to ARA senior leadership
- Collaborate with ARA subject matter experts to develop value propositions to customers
- Assist ARA business units with Navy marketing activities to ensure professional and compelling marketing/proposal offerings.
Desired Navy Business Development Manager Qualifications
- B.S degree or equivalent; a degree in physics, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, biology, or other hard science is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with Navy or Marines as PM or higher running major program(s).
- Demonstrated record of proposing, marketing, and selling ideas and projects, with a track record for closing deals.
- Experience that demonstrates highly effective interpersonal skills with technical staff and business executives within the company, as well as with customer and partners..
- Previous active or reserve duty in Navy or Marines a plus
