CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Case Manager II/Peer Recovery Support Specialist

FLSA STATUS: Exempt Supervisor: Program Director

EXEMPTION STATUS: Professional Facility: Norman Primarily

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time Salary Range: $37,000 to $40,000

DISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICS:

Under immediate supervision of the Program Director, the Case Manager II/Peer Recovery

Support Specialist (CMII/PRSS) provides case management support services; peer recovery support services; serves as consumer advocate; provides information and support for consumers.

The (CMII/PRSS) performs a wide range of tasks to assist consumers in regaining control of their lives and recovery processes. The (CMII/PRSS) will possess the skills to maintain a high level of professionalism, ethics, and interactions with all clients including adults, adolescents, students, and families.

CASE MANAGER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide case management through planned client linkage, advocacy, and referral assistance. Collaboration of services are to provide a continuum of care for persons that utilize services inclusive of, but are not limited to substance abuse, mental health, prevention, housing, employment, or other services in support of consumer self- sufficiency.
  • Provide identified client life skills and rehabilitation individually and in group setting.
  • Provide intake screenings utilizing Case Management screening, SUD, and Mental

Health tools.

  • Planned client linkage, advocacy, and referral assistance.
  • Conduct group and individual educational sessions following identified curriculum.
  • Coordinate with the Medication Assisted Treatment clinic.
  • Maintain and update a catalogue of current community resources.
  • Work with the consumer and their identified supports, in accordance with a treatment plan developed with and approved by the recipient and qualified staff to reach the consumer's goals to remain successful in their recovery.

PRSS ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide identified client life skills, PRSS and rehabilitation individually and in group setting.
  • Teach and mentor the value of every individual’s recovery experience.
  • Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
  • Assist consumers in articulating personal goals for recovery and determining the objectives needed to reach his/her recovery goals.
  • Attend treatment team and program development meetings to ensure the presence of the consumer voice and to promote the use of self-directed recovery tools.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in TVC team meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Keep credentials and education current.
  • May fill in for other staff and programs, taking clients as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and clinical director
  • Maintain all files/records in compliance with the Oklahoma Department of Mental

Health and Substance Abuse Services, and TVC policies.

  • Ensure that responses to requests for information are in accordance with confidentiality, 42 CFR part 2 and HIPPA guidelines.
  • Maintain timely Progress Notes.
  • Work schedule may include evenings (up to three); flexible M-F 40 hour work week.

General office equipment including laptop computer

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:

Adult and Adolescent clients, family members and significant others; public officials; law enforcement, community professionals; educators/ school systems; courts; attorneys; and the general public.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA:

Client information, charts and records.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the recovery community, community resources and how to access them.
  • Provides experience, education, and professional treatment services to assist and support individuals, in developing and/or maintaining recovery-oriented, wellness focused lifestyles.
  • Recognizes problems beyond their training, skills or competence and refer to team therapist when appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated self-driven recovery from a mental illness, substance abuse disorder or both and actively working on recovery and/or overall wellness with a minimum of three years sobriety.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to mental health and substance use disorder treatment.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum: Behavioral Health Case Manager II certification or qualified and in process and Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification or qualified and in process.
