About the Role

The Ads & Delivery Marketing Legal team partners with the rapidly growing Ads business and the Delivery businesses at Uber to advise on Advertising, Digital Media, Consumer Protection, and Marketing & Advertising Law issues.

We are looking for an exceptional lawyer who has expertise in advising on complex advertising campaigns, initiatives, and activations across multiple media, promotions, and offers, and negotiating partnership and sponsorship agreements. You'll work closely with teams globally throughout Uber, including Legal, Marketing, Policy, Comms, Product, and Engineering to play a critical part in our business, constantly innovate and promote the brand and communicate to consumers, merchants, couriers, and the public at large about products, and services.

What You'll Do

• Provide ongoing legal support for Uber’s various marketing and advertising activities related to Uber Eats, Postmates, Drizly, and Cornershop. Focused on global complex marketing campaigns, new products, and promotional initiatives related to Restaurant Merchants, Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, Couriers, New Verticals (retail, florists, pet stores, etc.), and CPG companies.
• Review, draft and negotiate key agreements for strategic partnerships, focused on marketing, delivery, and advertising.
• Provide proactive analysis of a wide range of sophisticated and strategic issues. It's our job to peer around corners for the business and ensure that we are well-positioned for the future.
• Be a strong communicator and collaborator to effectively support a high-performing, diverse team and outside counsel to achieve our goals.
• Update and maintain marketing playbooks and guidelines based on applicable laws, rules, and regulatory guidance.
• Create and present engaging company-wide training on relevant issues.
• Identify areas for improvement in internal processes and drive implementation.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years of Marketing/Advertising legal experience in private practice, in-house, and/or government.
• J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in advising on consumer protection, marketing legal issues & major global advertising campaigns across mediums.
• Deep knowledge of promotion, sponsorship, agency, production, talent, and influencer agreements among others.
• At least two (2) years of in-house experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team to stay in sync and working independently to get the job done.
• Excellent business judgment, ability to build credibility, great communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Clear communicator, team orientated, and willing to take initiative while thinking two steps ahead.
• Confidence and flexibility to operate in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $227,000 per year - $252,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $227,000 per year - $252,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
