Amach is an industry-leading software company with headquarters located in Dublin and remote teams in UK and Europe. Our team members are typically located within 2-hour time zone for better collaboration.
Established in 2013, we specialise in digital transformation including agile software development, DevOps, automation, databases, and cloud consulting. Amach are an AWS registered partner.
Must haves:

• 5+ years of experience in managing teams in the field of Data Engineering or Data Warehousing
• Demonstrated experience designing a data engineering roadmap and executing the vision behind it
• Experience of designing and implementing innovative data solutions
• Degree in Computer Science or similar or relevant work experience
• Eligible to live and work in the EU
• Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport

Key responsibilities & duties include:

• Build and lead a team of 20-30 Data Engineers, working with offshore partners to augment local teams for efficient delivery
• Develop talent with a view to recruiting, retaining & promoting a diverse high-performing team
• Define robust processes and standards that can be applied consistently across multiple Data product teams, to ensure that all data applications we build are optimally developed for quality, efficiency and cost
• Build fast, robust, effective and efficient analytics data applications with modern cloud development technologies covering data collection, transformation, storage and presentation layers
• Liaise with vendors, service providers and colleagues to select and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support our goals
• Develop deep partnerships with other engineering and product teams to deliver on major cross-functional initiatives
• Foster an open culture of smart risk taking & innovation
• Manage the team's operational budget
• Be a point of escalation for teams, but work to empower the teams to make their own informed decisions

Key competencies & skills required:

• Technical & change management leadership experience
• Experience of managing costs on a cloud-based data platform
• Exposure to Scheduling tools, such as Apache Airflow
• Exposure to stream-processing systems, such as Snowflake Snowpipe or AWS Kinesis
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Experience with Snowflake cloud data-warehouse
• Experience with AWS data platform
• Exposure to Data Science, including Predictive Modelling
• Experience creating/supporting production software/systems and a proven track record of identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks for production systems
