Required skills:
- Relevant 3rd level qualification with a strong technical focus
- SAFe certification
- Excellent knowledge and proven experience of working with IT Software Development Lifecycle methodologies (Waterfall & Agile) with significant Agile hands-on experience
- Possess at least 10+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 8 years in delivery management
- Experience in working with third party suppliers in the delivery of business or IT change initiatives – including experience of working with remote and co-located teams and vendors
- Experience of writing high quality Business Cases and Statements of Work
- Advanced level of proficiency in use of Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence and reporting additions) and Microsoft Office
- Experience leading complex technology and business transformation projects
- A strong understanding of best practices, tools and techniques for delivery management with a focus on continuous improvement
- Acute understanding and ability to demonstrate expertise in roadmap/portfolio planning
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally at levels up to Director and C Suite and ability to make complex technology problem simple to the business. Must be capable of understanding and communicating the "big picture"
- Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders and to influence stakeholders in support of delivery
- Robust relationship management, capable of working with all levels within the organisation by building effective relationships
- An effective team manager with proven ability to build, motivate and support a high performing team
- Highly motivated, driven, pragmatic and completely focused on technical delivery for business benefit
- Strong listening, analytical, problem solving, with close attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate conflict resolution skills – driving resolution of any team or stakeholder conflict
Desirable skills:
- A technical background is preferred – ideally gained in consulting companies or working with Airlines or other enterprise systems with international, Tier 1 customer organisations
- Knowledge of IT and Digital systems, including experience of leading software development projects involving web-based, mid-range and integration platforms and applications, Cloud based technologies.
- Detailed understanding of the technical architecture underpinning the IT service landscape in e-Commerce, Online Media, Information Technology, Legacy systems & Services environments
Key responsibilities & duties include:
- Responsible for the successful delivery of Portfolio Epics or Business Initiatives in line with Portfolio responsibility of your team
- Support the Portfolio Manager to ensure that the value delivered is according to agreed priorities and ensure that KPIs are in place to measure the value delivered
- Work with the Portfolio Manager to ensure the delivery structure is defined (Hybrid, Waterfall or PCD), and the delivery activities are tracked according to the agreed agile reporting processes, including full financial status.
- Ensure the effective and transparent management of all deliverables according to the agreed delivery methodology
- Support your team of Delivery Managers and Product Owners (and in some cases Business Analysts) to fulfil their roles according to defined Frameworks, guidelines, tooling and reports and foster a culture of Continuous Improvement and consistency
- Actively ensure that new Delivery Managers are onboarded in an efficient and supportive manner
- Co-ordinate with Delivery Managers and Product Owners to ensure that all deliverables are estimated using agreed process
- Collaborate strongly with all Tech/Business/Finance teams ensuring alignment and transparency on deliverables, RAID, finances etc, using the defined tooling
- Ensure delivery in your team is always focused on the highest priority items according to the agreed delivery methodology
- Report delivery status and updates in line with the agreed framework and tools
- Ensure end-to end-delivery ceremonies are conducted and all delivery items are managed correctly in Jira
- Work closely with finance business partners to ensure financial reporting of deliverables is accurate
- Engage proactively with release management and work to remove obstacles that may occur in your team
- Manage delivery communications to key stakeholders across multiple levels throughout Business and Technology, including director level business owners, business executive sponsors and the wider executive team. Support the Portfolio Manage in their role by having reporting always up to date
- Prepare Delivery reports (based on defined tooling) for Steering meetings with all stakeholders & deliver these presentations
- Prepare updates for Town Hall ceremonies if required and deliver these presentations
