The Sr. Director of Operations Excellence will report directly to the Tarkett North America (TNA) SVP Operations and will provide functional operations excellence leadership for all locations in Dalton, GA, Calhoun, GA, Florence, AL, Chagrin Falls, OH, Middlefield, OH, and Mexico City, MX
The Sr. Director of Operations will be responsible for driving optimization of manufacturing and quality performance in collaborative partnership with other plant and functional leaders and via the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and continuous improvement processes. The direct reports for the selected individual will include:
Director, World Class Manufacturing (WCM)- Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader
In addition to providing hands-on management of the above activities, the Sr. Director of Operations Excellence will be expected to formulate and drive WCM and continuous improvement strategies for operations, in collaboration with plant leaders, in order to achieve best-in-class process and efficiencies in plant operations.
The role will also act as an extension of the SVP of Operations to help facilitate and drive key strategic and tactical activities in any and all facets of improvements in our Operations. In this capacity the role will act in some ways as a “chief of staff” for the SVP of Operations.
Key to this role is the ability to partner with plant and functional operations leaders to co-develop and co-own driving operational improvements through both influence and driving expectations for executions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ability to analyze cost structure and develop strategies to drive improvements in business competitiveness.

Facilitate and drive strategic plans to achieve annual operating plan/budget and any required capital expenditures.

Develop a collaborative relationship with the TNA leadership Team to gain alignment across the organization to meet business strategic initiatives and ensure cross-functional integration.

Support analysis and developing plans to drive strategic improvements in OEE and reliability of equipment and processes.

Support driving strategic improvements in quality across TNA, with a shift from quality claims management to a focus on quality systems and process improvements to prevent claims.

KEY PRIORITIES:

Support leading the growth, development, and efficiency of manufacturing operations in a collaborative yet influential manner.

Support the key strategic and tactical needs of the SVP of Operations in collaboration with peers
-
Drive cost reduction, operational reliability, service and quality improvements.
-
Establish and/or drive a cadence of performance metrics in collaboration with peers on the Operations team.

Continue to build and drive a lean manufacturing and WCM culture.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline is required; Master’s in Business Administration or Engineering is a plus.

10+ years of demonstrated career progression in manufacturing environments in Continuous Improvement and 3+ years of team leadership experience
-
Demonstrated Operations leadership experience in complex, matrix, manufacturing environments

Practical knowledge in both world-class manufacturing and engineering disciplines.

Formal training in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a plus.

Ability to advance into multi-site plant leadership roles.

Demonstrated success leading/building teams and building bench strength to create successors to key managers in his/her organization and ultimately to him/herself.

Ability to travel (domestically and internationally) when required
