The Sr. Facilities Security Technician provides technical and professional expertise related to safety and security protocols throughout County facilities. This is skilled technical work performing installation, maintenance, and administration of all security systems, devices, software, and equipment in County facilities.
Generally, the hiring range is $60,738-$75,922 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive.)
- Manage all Douglas County security equipment, including but not limited to:
- Access Control C-Cure 9000: Design, install, operate, and maintain field hardware, head-end equipment, and client workstations.
- Program access control events, schedules, and clearances
- Avigilon cameras: Install, operate, and maintain cameras, head-end camera equipment, and client workstations.
- Ability to repair, service, and troubleshoot access control and cameras hardware and software
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Provides leadership and mentors the work of Security Technicians. May provide supervision in the absence of the Supervisor/Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Periodic supervision. Work is performed independently.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees the work of Facilities Security Technicians and Contractors.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work is complex, with critical judgment used daily. The consequence of error is very high and may result in inaccurate information being communicated and/or recorded, facilities being unsecured after business hours, compliance requirements not being met, and a lack of safety and security opportunities for employees. This position requires working independently to manage and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner. Work involves various tasks and requires the ability to prioritize workflow daily—quick decision-making with a high regard for integrity based on level of expertise and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Associates degree preferred.
- Five years of trade experience required.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of approved methods and practices involved in installing, constructing, repairing, and maintaining various security systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting with meters and wire tracers
- Experience in programming access control panels and programming cameras
- Ability to read and understand written instructions, blueprints, and a variety of correspondence such as forms, reports, and repair orders
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to carry out instructions
- Knowledge of supervisory principals.
Skills:
- Read and understand a variety of correspondences, such as forms, reports, schematics, and blueprints.
- Effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Perform and utilize mathematical calculations involving variables, formulas, square roots, and polynomials.
- Routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products is highly desired.
Abilities:

- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to carry out instructions.
- Ability to generalize, make judgments or decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a C-Cure 9000 System Installer/Maintainer certification within 180 days of hire.
- This position requires completing a criminal background check, fingerprinting through a national database, and CJIS certification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Work Environment: Work is performed both inside a facility and outdoors in all weather conditions. Some hazardous situations may exist based on the work to be performed.
Physical Demands: Work requires the ability to lift and carry 50lbs frequently. Work requires the ability to push and pull 100lbs. frequently. It also requires frequent bending, squatting, standing, climbing, kneeling, and walking. May be required to work in small, hard-to-reach spaces occasionally.
Material and Equipment Directly Used: Computer, motor vehicle, ladder, powered lifts, power tools, diagnostic meters, hand tools, and numerous specialty electrical and telecommunications test equipment.

In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required.
