Senior Finance Analyst – NNA Capital Projects

The Novelis North America (NNA) team is seeking a Senior Finance Analyst – NNA Capital Projects. The person in this role will report to the Manager, Finance – NNA Capital Projects. The Senior Finance Analyst – NNA Capital Projects will be responsible for a comprehensive range of finance, budgetary management and financial analysis responsibilities that will support the Finance workstream of the CAPEX PMO. The role will be responsible for assisting the Manager and Director of Finance, Capital Projects in handling the budget for the designated strategic capital expansion project in the North America region, as well as preparing materials that will provide timely and accurate reporting to key collaborators. The position will have the responsibility of staying in direct communication with capital project teams on the designated project to ensure proper reporting and tracking of all elements of the budget and intensifying issues when needed.

  • Responsible for supervising and reporting on the budget of the designated capital expansion project which includes but is not limited to performing variance analyses, tracking spend, commitment and overages and communicating with the Manager and Director of Finance for large capital projects in a timely and effective manner.
  • Connect with various key contacts on the designated capital project team to collect vital information to complete and provide the most up to date status reports for key collaborators' report outs.
  • Provide accurate and significant forecast information (by working with relevant CAPEX contacts) and consolidate information into concise and timely summary report outs.
  • Ensure the quality of the financial information, by working with the Manager of Finance to vet and challenge where needed to encourage teams to stay within the approved budget.
  • It is essential that this role possesses a proven understanding of each project’s budget and cost structure, who the key contacts are and the project timeline and any potential delays or cost overages.
  • Delivery upon requests in a timely manner with multiple competing priorities
  • Assisting the manager in identifying budget issues in advance before they become a “red flag”
  • Knowing when to intensify to the appropriate level vs. when to follow-up with appropriate resources.
  • Work with business partners on the capital project to build and maintain the budgetary financial reporting.
  • Tracking in SAP of all POs and PRs created against budget of each internal order
  • Update master budget to reflect accurate and timely budget information including but not limited to; budget, purchase orders/committed spend, forecasted spend, remaining in budget, overages, cash flows, etc.
  • Understand the structure and workings of SAP to properly track and report these metrics.
  • Ensure accuracy of billings/revenues as part of the monthly close/reporting process.
  • Meet with project managers weekly – monthly to review commercial/financial aspects of each project to assess for budget impact.
  • Be involved in relevant communications regarding project budget and spend.
  • Advise on when issues should be intensified to the next level, before they are designated “red flags”.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • 3-5 years of relevant finance experience
  • Ability to conduct budgetary variance and forecast analyses
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Extensive SAP Knowledge of finance and controlling modules, and modules related to capital budgeting and tracking
  • Advanced level of presentation (verbal/written) and relationship building skills
  • Ability to multi-task and take on additional projects with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to deep dive data, extract insights and provide guidance on actions
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Some capital budgeting knowledge and project management skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to drive operational improvement to improved current budget tracking and introduce efficiencies
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, capital project budget planning and maintenance and finance and budgeting
