Purpose of your role
This is an exciting opportunity to secure a newly enhanced role reporting locally to the Head of Risk, Ireland and Group wide to the Global Chief Risk Officer in helping to lead the development and enhancement of the Risk Function Board level reporting and insights within Fidelity globally. The role includes leading and enhancing Fidelity’s Board level reporting and risk insights and executive level risk governance reporting and helping to improve the second line risk oversight model across the various Fidelity businesses. The role will involve direct interaction with the various heads of risk functions and their supporting teams. You will be supported in your role by existing risk team leads.
As this is a newly enhanced role, you will have the opportunity to define and shape your job role profile and deliverables and to develop as a key part of the Global Risk Function. The Global Risk team is a diverse team and we are ideally looking for an individual whom can innovate, ‘think outside the box’ and support executive management and Global risk colleagues as a ‘trusted business partner’.
Key Responsibilities
Core aspects of the role:
The purpose of the role is to co-ordinate, manage and support the end-to-end risk reporting activity and insights for the Global Risk Team covering the Fidelity Group Risk Committees, regulated Boards and other governance bodies and forums. The individual will take the lead on drafting Board level and Committee reports, providing risk insights and commentary, and coordinate the production of other risk insights and reporting produced by other members of the Global Risk Team, including coordinating content input from other risk and business stakeholders. As this model matures, the role holder will progress to make the Board reporting capability more global supporting and covering all locations. In addition the individual will lead development of Fidelity’s approach, innovation, idea management and value add to risk insights and reporting initiatives. Key aspects of the role will include:
- Interact closely with both the global risk coverage leads for the various Business areas within Fidelity and the business area risk leads - this includes: ISS (Investment Solutions & Services), WPFH (Workplace and Personal Financial Health) and the Corporate Enabler Functions; including developing, establishing and maintaining highly effective working relationships with all key internal stakeholders
- Develop and maintain an appropriate external professional network to keep abreast of external developments and risk insights
- Work to ensure business level risks can be aggregated for understanding the Group level risk profile and provide independent insights to risk activities and governance of various business areas, ensuring an appropriate risk view is articulated
- Take the lead on working with key contributors and Heads of the various Risk Function Teams
- Ensure timely production and distribution of the risk reports to management, Boards, Committees and Governance forums
- Track and ensure appropriate actioning of follow up items arising from Boards, Risk Committees and Governance forums
- Ensure there are processes in place to validate quality and consistency of risk data and MI
- Review and challenge existing process for risk insights and risk report collation and mature the capability to extend this service globally across locations and risk teams
- Define and shape your role as Risk Insights and Reporting, becoming a subject matter expert over the FIL business and further implement any responsibilities across the Global Risk Function to support delivery - this includes further developing the role as the Fidelity business areas and landscape evolves and the business further develops in line with the 2030 strategy
- Understand Fidelity’s risk framework standards and defined risk tolerances and appetite
- Develop and ensure there is appropriate ongoing oversight and monitoring of the relevant risk profiles to ensure they are managed in line with Risk Appetite.
- Attend as necessary relevant Senior Management governance forums, Exco’s and risk committee forums
Experience and Qualifications
Required
- Experience in dealing with cross functional stakeholders at various level of seniority
- Experience working in a 1LOD or 2LOD governance or risk role; risk framework understanding and oversight knowledge
- High degree of proficiency in report writing and MS tools including the ability to develop clear, concise & compelling story lines for the Global Chief Risk Officer and Risk Management Leadership Team
- Ability to create insights & provide risk opinions to Boards and Senior Management from data sets
- Collaborative problem-solver able to work through ambiguous, shifting and sometimes competing priorities
- Excellent command on spoken and written English
- 10+ years’ experience in working in the financial industry with an understanding or background in Risk function
- Fine balance in working with multiple stakeholders and ability to work independently
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Ability to make decisions that are reasonable and logical
- Effective influencer, able to build productive relationships, while comfortable challenging and negotiating different viewpoints
Highly desirable:
- Financial or Non-Financial Risk management experience in Financial Services
- Financial, Investment or Operational risk assessments knowledge and experience
- Experience in running risk analysis, including review/challenge of business risk profile and remediation initiatives
