Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong engineer to support new vision product development. The successful candidate has a track record on multidisciplinary teams from product concept through market launch. This person participates in creating system-wide architecture, has the proven ability to map out schedules and work assignments, leads teams through concept and development, and plays an active hands-on role in solving challenging technical problems.

The successful candidate will utilize creativity and sound engineering judgment in the design of medical capital equipment components for volume manufacturing processes. They are expected to use engineering and analytical skills to conceptualize, develop, and verify new electrical, software, mechanical, and optomechanical designs. They are responsible for key system components and will interface with suppliers and manufacturing NPI teams to build high-quality hardware prototypes and productize new designs. They should be capable of making sound decisions when faced with time constraints and ambiguous or incomplete information typical of research and development.

  Development of hardware from concept through product launch.
• Design, build, and measure prototype solutions that demonstrate proof-of-concept and early technical feasibility.
• Design and fabricate electrooptic-mechanical devices including sensors and microcontrollers.
• Characterize, test, and verify circuits and embedded systems.

• Investigate new technologies for early product development.
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems for new product development.
• Work across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software).
• Participate in full product design, prototyping, and mass production cycles.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team in creating product development and test plans.
• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation (test plan protocols, reports, specifications).
• Perform statistical data analysis and interpretation.
• Develop algorithms to extract information from physiological signals and data.
• Duties will also include general engineering support in R&D.
• Analyze and investigate research and development engineering tasks and prepares design specifications, analysis, and recommendations.
• Communicate with professionals in the field at all levels and transition information into product improvement.

Qualifications

In this role, you’ll need …

• Minimum BS with minimum 8+ years, MS with 5+ years, PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, and Biomedical Engineering; other scientific disciplines considered
• Technical knowledge and background experience in Mechatronics.
• Experience in integrating mechanical designs with electrical systems.
• Experience in fixture design
• Experience in working with 3D CAD and analysis software
• Experience in board bring-up and debugging.
• Experience in reading schematic design and understanding PCB layout.
• Experience in Python and scripting skills.
• Familiarity with interconnect protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO) and interfacing peripherals.
• Algorithm and firmware development experience is a strong plus.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed below:

Base Salary Range Region 1:$132,800 - $191,200
Base Salary Range Region 2: $112,900 - $162,500
