What You’ll Be Doing
As the Senior Payroll Manager at Chelsea Investment, you will be responsible for all areas of the payroll process and related tasks. An employee in this role administers the post-payroll functions, including payroll billing, payroll allocation and booking appropriate journal entries.

Additionally, your tasks will include, but not be limited to:
  • Implementing, maintaining, and reviewing payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Providing Excel based ad-hoc reporting including bonus calculations and payroll forecasts.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitating audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifying and recommending updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.

What You’ll Need to Perform the Role
To be successful in this role, you’ll use your bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, plus eight (8) or more years of progressive payroll experience, preferably for multiple states and within the construction industry or a related industry, such as real estate, tax, banking, finance, or public administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been attained to be successful in this role.

You will also have:
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles, payroll reporting requirements, and California specific laws.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise regarding payroll systems, including experience using ADP Workforce Now within the last three (3) years.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all State and Federal pay related laws and regulations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create and manipulate complicated spreadsheets, including expertise using pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Superior ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Extremely organized with ingrained ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keen attention to detail with focused adherence to strict deadlines and procedures.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment in all aspects of project management.
  • High level of integrity and dependability, including handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Teamwork mindset and temperament to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Genuine desire to work in real estate development affordable housing industry.
  • Personal accountability and enthusiasm for achieving company goals.

Hiring Range
Salary of $95K to $115K on an annualized basis, depending on qualifications.

The pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting but may change based on education and experience. Final compensation is determined by various factors, such as education, training, experience, work location, required travel (if any), and external market conditions. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off including a generous holiday schedule.
