Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for ensuring all raw materials are strategically sourced and negotiated to best fit creative werks’ strategic plan. Other responsibilities include managing the arrival of JIT materials, analyzing procurement data, and working closely with internal departments to provide best in class support to our clients. The candidate must be organized, detail oriented, analytical, and a team player with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities of the Position:
  • Responsible for placing and managing purchase orders with external vendors for assigned clients. This includes adjustments to orders as client demand changes.
  • Manage the purchasing of client supplied, turnkey directed, and turnkey full items. Expedite deliveries when required.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic sourcing including but no limited to placing blanket orders and developing vendor contracts, stocking agreements, min/max programs, and vendor managed inventory.
  • Analyze weekly client schedules and raw material inventory using MRP to determine risk and raw material requirements.
  • Work closely with the scheduling team and client managers to ensure alignment and best in class support for our clients.
  • Identify, communicate, and execute cost reduction opportunities in alignment with company goals.
  • Manage the development, distribution, and analysis of RFQs.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships through emails, meetings, visits, and phone calls.
  • Participate in new client projects by working closely with both clients and vendors to obtain quotes, artwork/dielines, volumes, and JIT arrival of raw materials.
  • Address packaging quality concerns directly with vendors to determine root cause; Work with vendors to obtain replacement product and reimbursement.
  • Source and research new packaging vendors. Assess vendor capabilities and manage the onboarding of such vendors.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and perform risk analysis on an annual basis.
  • Keep current on key market indicators, industry trends, and commodities pricing.
  • Actively participate in both internal and recurring client calls.
  • Analyze system reports and make necessary adjustments to POs.
  • Manage inventory at external storage facilities (3PL).
  • Work in client SAP portals to enter and manage customer supplied orders.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Develop on-going relationships with both vendors and clients.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects and clients. The ability to plan, delegate, and evaluate progress towards goals is a necessity to success.
  • Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: There are many instances in this role where analytical thinking is necessary to avoid shutting down the production lines.
  • Negotiation: The Procurement department owns the vendor relationships and therefore manages the negotiating of quotes, new projects, and contracts. It is important negotiating is done well and effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Manage the placement and arrival of POs to align with both storage capacity and client requirements.
  • Competitive Spirt: Strong drive for the success of CW and our clients.
  • Adaptable: Desire to thrive in a dynamically growing environment with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Engineering, or related field, preferred.
  • 5-7 years of purchasing, sourcing, buying, or similar experience preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to travel between 5-10% within North America, mainly the Midwest.
  • Eligible for hybrid work schedule of up to 2 days work from home per week.
  • Operate in an open concept office setting and warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from 55 – 80 degrees.
  • This position may require the employee to travel to other CW facilities for training/meetings and/or education. Other facilities include Bartlett, IL and Bensenville, IL.
