Senior Program Manager
Job description
AEVEX Aerospace is seeking an Aviation Program Manager to lead and manage the modification of aircraft with enhanced special mission capabilities to support unique DoD and commercial customers requirements. Some of these unique capabilities include advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) sensors, communications and datalink technologies, and aircraft platform enhancements to support multi-mission objectives. The Aviation Program Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of assigned programs and supporting projects to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations including cost, schedule, and technical performance while maintaining company objectives. The Aviation Program Manager position plays a critical role in the delivery of unique capabilities and provides key leadership in the development and growth of AEVEX Aerospace.
Essential Functions:
- Manages aircraft modification programs and supporting projects "from beginning to end" to ensure projects meet Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Schedule, Budget, and Team Development factors for success
- Responsible for all programmatic aspects of assigned projects with specifically focused responsibility for customer relationship, cost, schedule, technical planning, tracking and reporting, technical execution, and ensuring overall program performance objectives are achieved
- Act as the primary interface between AEVEX and the customer for all matters related to assigned programs
- Reviews contract requirements and associated statement of work (SOW) to determine required man-power, schedule, budget, and risks to accomplish program objectives
- Develops an effective Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to properly plan, organize, and manage assigned projects
- Develops and maintains individual project schedules and program integrated master schedules from initial planning through delivery
- Creates resource-loading charts to forecast man-power requirements and demand by required skill-set
- Coordinates and prioritizes work tasks with functional leads to support timely execution and ensure program cost, schedule, and performance objectives
- Proactively solves problems (takes initiative, exhibits critical thinking, and "owns" managed projects and results)
- Identifies and manages risks and develops risk mitigation strategies
- Works with subcontractors/vendors to support project requirements; develops SOW and associated requirements, negotiates terms and conditions, and manages subcontractor/vendor performance
- Develops program status reports in accordance with contractual and internal requirements
- Supports responses to Request for Proposal (RFP) to include solutions, schedule and WBS development, basis of estimate (BOE) generation, development and review of technical proposals, and pricing
- Coordinates with the management team to identify and track vital factors for success
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or technical field
- 5+ years' experience in Program Management or as Project Manager/Engineer in aviation or aerospace industry
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Project
- Experience developing and managing an integrated master schedule (IMS) for assigned programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to interface with customers and technical professionals at all levels
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assess technical and programmatic issues
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; able to manage project tasks, scope change, and schedules to keep projects on-track
- Self-starter demonstrating solid judgment; understands when to seek guidance but has strong ability to think and act independently under limited oversight and direction
- Detail-oriented, organized, and possess a strong work ethic
- Experience managing and leading teams to execute projects on-time and budget, while delivering a high degree of customer satisfaction
- Experience working with subcontractors and vendors, developing statements of work and associated requirements, negotiating terms and conditions, and managing subcontractor/vendor performance
- Exhibits a strong desire to grow as a leader and shows a passion for teamwork
- An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance or demonstrate eligibility to possess clearance
Desired Skills:
- Working knowledge of Program Management Institute Program Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
- Program Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Institute (PMI) certification
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license, or FAA Pilot license, or related military aviation experience
- Prior experience performing aircraft modifications to commercial aircraft and knowledge of the FAA airworthiness certification process
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS) and DoD contracting processes
- Experience managing projects using Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), agile and or spiral development models
