Navistar Controls & Software organization is seeking a
Senior Project Engineer - Embedded Controls to be responsible for requirements and architecture at the component level for all Navistar owned ECU ADAS, HMI, and Body Controls applications. The Engineer will also have exposure to or participate in the development of various vehicle controls modeling/software and quality/safety analysis.
This is a hybrid role, there are minimal travel requirements with this position.
- Concept development for new subsystems including designing and development of new algorithms
- Manage the requirements on engineering projects, ensuring they are fully documented and traceable in line with the Requirements Management Plan
- Capture all stakeholder requirements
- Review Requirements with Subject Matter Experts
- Develop functional architecture at the subsystem level.
- Functional simulation of developed algorithms using data-replay or plant based closed-loop simulation techniques
- Participate in the development of Failure Mode & Risk Analysis work products
- Work closely with Functional Safety team to develop safety requirements
- Work closely with Cyber Security team to develop security requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships across departments
- Experience of requirements management and requirements management software
- Embedded software development experience
- Engineering tool MatLab, Simulink, MS Visio, INCA calibration tool, Software configuration management tools
- Software programming language such as C/C++, embedded software development
- Experience with plant model, simulation and integration of HIL environments
- Experience with any stage of automotive HMI development or ADAS
- Experience with Body or Chassis Controls
- Experience with Vehicle Communications and Network, AUTOSAR Software, Telematics Software, Instrument Cluster software
