Description of Duties:

The Senior Project Manager supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:


  • Manage a highly complex project to completion
  • Confidently oversee project scope, schedule, and financial commitments supporting contract goals in collaboration with all stakeholders
  • Plan and schedule project deliverables using established Earned Value tool sets
  • Manage expectations, resolve issues and conflicts, and build mitigation plans
  • Manage a diverse team of engineers and promote effective communication
  • Author and deliver proposals, status reports, and executive level presentations
  • Act as interface and liaison to a major space sensors customer, coordinating all efforts to integrate their critical capabilities into the Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture (MDSEA) baseline while meeting aggressive agency test objectives and schedule
  • Clearly and professionally communicate project status to executive level program representatives
  • Manage and foster collaboration with multi-disciplinary and geographically separated teams comprising military, government, contractor and subcontractor stakeholders from different organizations, to plan, execute and closeout a variety of related space system projects on schedule, ranging in complexity
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and financial commitments supporting contract goals
  • Plan and schedule project deliverables using established earned value tool sets
  • Manage project risks and expectations; resolve issues and conflicts, and build mitigation plans

The successful candidate will be able to:


  • Exhibit a cognitive ownership of their project deliverables and partner with matrixed resources to deliver results according to customer expectations
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency with Earned Value, Microsoft Office and MS Project scheduling software
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal ‘teaming’ soft skills
  • Assist Delivery Team Lead with daily tasks and requirements completion

This position will be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO


This position is expected to pay $137,900 - $147,900 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 16 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 14 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of general experience; Master’s degree and 10 years of general experience


  • Must have 8 years of experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgeting and leading projects and programs within and outside IT, as well as projects and programs that involved external providers.
  • Must 5 years of experience in management or leadership roles
  • Must have a thorough understanding of Earned Value Management
  • Must possess good communication skills
  • Must have recent MDA experience
  • Must have recent proposals experience
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Requirements:


  • Be PMP/PMI certified
  • Be ITIL Certified
  • Have Earned Value Management and Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience
  • Have experience managing high dollar-value projects ranging in complexity
  • Have experience managing geographically separated project teams
  • Have experience managing projects in traditional waterfall and/or agile methodologies
  • Have experience successfully driving projects to completion while integrating matrixed resources
  • Have experience managing projects in traditional waterfall and/or agile methodologies
